I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.

I wait for the Lord; I wait for his answers to my prayers, for his guidance, for his promises, for his timing.  I wait because I know his ways are perfect.  I wait with my mind, I wait with my body, and I wait with my soul.  I wait because I know with all of my heart that he loves me and he has a plan for me, so I gladly wait, putting all of my hope in his word, in my Savior.

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

There is no doubt we all live very busy lives.  We work, we have families to take care of, appointments to keep, people to see, and things to do.  It’s important that we make wise decisions about what we give our time and attention to and it’s important that we give our best to those things. Whether we realize it or not, people are watching us to see if what we preach is what we practice.  It’s important that we treat everyone with kindness and gentleness.  It’s important that we conduct ourselves in the best light as we represent the Lord in everything we do.

Because you are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you.

 

Are you seeing yourself the way God sees you?  You are precious in his sight and you are valuable.  You are God’s own creation and we know that he doesn’t make mistakes, you have worth.  You are a jewel and you belong to God.  You have been adopted into his own family, you are his child, and an heir to his kingdom.  God has given you gifts and talents to use for his purpose because he has a plan for you.  He loves you so much he gave his only Son so you could have eternal life.  Stop worrying about the way the world sees you and start seeing yourself the way God sees you.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God.

 

What would you rather do, worry or worship?  Whatever it is that worries you, whether it’s spiritual, physical, for yourself, or for others, bring it to God in prayer.  Humbly come before your heavenly Father, with a sincere heart and lay your burdens, your worries, and your cares at his feet.  He wants you to come to him with an honest heart and tell him how you feel and what you need.  He already knows, but he wants to hear it from you. Then, leave your worries there and worship him in spirit and truth, from your heart, putting him above all else. Thank him for what he has already done for you, thank him for the peace he is putting in your heart, and thank him for his grace and mercy.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And the life that I now live in my body, I live by faith, indeed, by the faithfulness of God’s Son, who loved me and gave himself for me.

 

The words repeat themselves in my head, “the life that I now live”.  It’s only by God’s grace and mercy I have “the life that I now live”.  It was not so long ago I lived a different life, a life focused on myself, a life without purpose, or peace.  In order to get to where I am today I had to leave that life in the past. I had to surrender my life to God and focus on the future he has planned for me.   Now, because of God’s love, I live not on my own power or strength but through faith in Jesus Christ who loves me so much he died on the cross for me and because he died for me, I live for him.

Stop living in the past an d start living in faith.

Those who watch the wind blow will never sow, and those who observe the clouds will never reap.

 

If you are waiting for perfect conditions like the right time, the right people, the right _________ (you fill in the blank) to start living your God given dream you’ll never get started.  Don’t wait for “perfect conditions”, you have start now with what you know now, and what you have now, tomorrow may never come.  Don’t be afraid, God is with you and he will equip you with every good thing to do his will.  It’s okay to start small, at least you’ve started to sow and it’s okay to make mistakes, it shows you’re trying and not just watching the wind blow.  Start sowing now what God has put in your heart so you can reap his blessings.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

 

Like Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus, we need to pray for our friends, our enemies, and the world.  We need to pray that they would invite Jesus into their lives so they can experience his infinite love first hand and have a personal relationship with him.  We need to pray that they would come to truly know him, his grace, and his glory.

Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

 

Joshua told the Israelites to consecrate themselves before they crossed the Jordan River to the promised land.  Before they would reach the designated promise, they had to sanctify themselves ceremonially and morally.  Likewise, before we can receive the amazing things God has planned for us we must turn away from sin, repent, and devote our lives to our heavenly Father.

Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

A forgiven heart is a changed heart, filled with gratitude and love.  Embrace life, be kind, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. Keep your tongue from speaking foul, obscene, or unwholesome words. Don’t lie or say hurtful things to anyone. Instead, speak blessings, be a blessing and you will receive a blessing.

Verse of the Day: 1 Peter 2:23

When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

It’s in our nature to try to protect ourselves when we are being attacked whether it is insults, criticism, lies or some other form of verbal abuse. We want to fight back and retaliate with more of the same, we want to defend ourselves with our own arguments.  But when Jesus was being insulted and suffering he did not retaliate.  He put his trust in his heavenly Father and let God defend him.  When you feel attacked, instead of fighting back bring your troubles to God, put your trust in him and let him be your defender and fight your battles for you.
