Teaching by Example

Psalm 34 11

Verse of the Day: Psalm 34:11

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

The best gift we can give our children is to teach them to obey and follow the Lord which leads to wisdom, prosperity and a happy life. Teaching children to fear the Lord doesn’t mean they should be afraid of Him, it means they should respect Him and put Him first in their lives. Fear of the Lord requires awe, reverence, adoration, honor, worship, faith, trust, thankfulness and love.  We teach these to our children not just by word but by example. Share Jesus, the greatest gift of all, with your children.

‘Tis the Season to Be Jolly

James 1 19

Verse of the Day:  James 1:19

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

‘Tis the season to be jolly.  Even though it’s the most wonderful time of the year everyone is busy, stressed out, in a hurry and not always as polite as they can be. As Christians, let’s try to set an example of how to treat others.  Let’s be kind and slow to anger and remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.

Share Your Testimony

1 Peter 3 15

Verse of the Day:  1 Peter 3:15

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

Knowing scriptures will come in time, but you don’t have to have every scripture in the Bible memorized before you can tell someone about Jesus.  Your personal testimony is one of the most compelling things you can share with someone.  If someone asks you why you believe in Jesus, tell them your story, tell them what He has done for you and how your life has changed.

Be a God Pleaser

galatians 1 10

Verse of the Day:  Galatians 1:10

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

We all fall into the trap of trying to please people, especially the people we love.  But the truth is, the only one we really need to please is God. Don’t be negatively influenced by people who don’t know God, instead be strong in what you believe and why you believe it.   By living a life that is focused on God’s truth and is pleasing to Him we will attract the right people into our lives.

Give Hope

Psalm 9 18

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 9:18

But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.

As we begin to immerse ourselves in the Christmas season let’s not forget those in need.  There are so many ways we can help the poor and needy.  Ask God to lead you in finding a way to help those in need this holiday season and throughout the year. Let God work through you as you donate your time, money, food or services. A little goes a long way and gives so much hope to many.

Life is Not About Possessions

Luke 12 15

Verse of the Day:  Luke 12:15

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Christmas is exactly one month away and although it’s nice to be able to give our loved ones gifts it’s also a good time to remind ourselves that life is not about possessions.  People trying to get the newest car, the biggest house or the next big thing are never satisfied. The only thing that can ever satisfy your soul is Jesus!  Life is not about the material possessions you have it’s about having a relationship with the Lord.

God Isn’t Finished with You Yet

Philippians 1 6.jpg

Verse of the Day: Philippians 1:6

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Have you ever felt like it was taking way too long for God to change you? You might even have wished you could rush God into changing you over night.  We all do, but it doesn’t happen that way. You need to be confident that in His way and in His timing He is changing you. We know this because He always finishes what He starts, so when you feel like you’re not changing fast enough, have faith and trust that God is still working on you.

The Lifter of My Head

Psalm 3 3

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 3:3

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

Thanksgiving Day is over and not everyone has or was able to spend time with family and friends.  For some, the holidays can be lonely and even a sad time. I sometimes feel it too. I miss loved ones that have passed and those who can’t be near me. But we are not alone, God is with us in every moment of every day. If we focus on the Lord, His goodness and our blessings He will get us through it.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 10: Happy Thanksgiving!

1 Chronicles 29 13.jpg

Verse of the Day: 1 Chronicles 29:13

Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.

I want to wish you all a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!  Over the past few days I’ve shared with you some of things I’m thankful for but there are so many reasons to be thankful that I would never be able to express them all.  As we give thanks to our Lord on this day let’s remember that He is good all the time and we should be thankful every day of the year.  May God bless you today and always. Happy Thanksgiving!

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 9:  Thankful for Everything

Ephesians 5 20.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Ephesians 5:20

always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am truly thankful for everything God has done for me and the plans He has for my future.  I am thankful for everything He has blessed me with, it’s more than I deserve. I’m thankful for my salvation and for the relationship I have with my Savior.  Above all else, I’m thankful for God’s love, mercy, grace and forgiveness. I give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart.
