Verse of the Day: Titus 3:5
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
The dictionary describes mercy as compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. We are all born sinners with sinful, selfish natures because sin entered the world through Adam and Eve. We deserve the condemnation that came as a result of sin, which is death. But, because of God’s mercy, He sent His only Son to pay the price of sin so that we could be made right. His merciful gift of salvation brought forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
