Avoid Negativity

1 Peter 3 10

Verse of the Day:  1 Peter 3:10

For, Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

What comes out of your mouths shows the kind of person you are. In a world where you can be anything you want to be choose to be kind, encouraging, sympathetic, loving, compassionate and humble. Keep from speaking foul, obscene or unwholesome words. Don’t lie or say hurtful things to anyone and stop yourself from gossiping. Instead, speak blessings and encouragement so that you too will be blessed and encouraged. Avoid all negativity by speaking positivity over your life so that you would enjoy your days. Start your day with prayer and connect with God to receive encouragement, peace and strength to face the day ahead.

God Will Fight for You

1 Peter 2 23

Verse of the Day:  1 Peter 2:23

When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

It’s in our nature to want to protect ourselves when we are being attacked whether it’s by insults, criticism or lies. We want to fight back and retaliate with more of the same. We want to defend ourselves with our own arguments. But when Jesus was being insulted and suffering He did not retaliate. He put His trust in His Heavenly Father and He trusted in God’s will to be done. Put your trust in God and let Him be your defender, He will fight for you and He will judge your enemies accordingly.

Greater Is He That Is In You

1 John 4 4 kjv

Verse of the Day: 1 John 4:4

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

We have been chosen and adopted by God as His own children.  His unshakeable power lives in us and His Word is written on our hearts as we experience His truth. Because God lives in us we are overcomers and by faith we have the victory over evil.

My Rock

Psalm 18 2

Verse of the Day: Psalm 18:2

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; in whom I will trust.

When we have a personal relationship with God we learn to trust Him in all situations. We can turn to God to shelter us from the storms of life, to build our hopes on and to deliver us from all our troubles. We know that no matter what is going on around us we can count on Him to be there for us. We can rely on Him to give us peace and help us get through anything because He loves us and He always keeps His promises. People may fail you but God never will.

Remembering Martin Luther King Jr.

Matthew 5 43-44

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 5:43-44

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you

Today, we honor the memory of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. He was not only an activist who fought against racism and for social and political change but he was also a pastor and a man of God whose ideas and beliefs on love, equality and unity among all people were rooted in the Bible. I encourage you to read King’s most famous speech, “I Have a Dream” and to learn more about this Nobel Peace Prize winner and how God used him to lead a movement.

Forgiven

Isaiah 1 18

Verse of the Day: Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”

Righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. No matter how big your sin is, no matter how long you’ve sinned, no matter what you’ve done your sins have been forgiven through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. What once was scarlet, is now white as snow. You don’t have to live with the guilt and shame of your past because Jesus paid the ultimate price for you and your debt has been forgiven. Jesus has settled the matter for you and you have been made righteous in the eyes of God. Because of God’s grace and mercy through Jesus Christ, God has promised to forgive those who confess and repent from their sins.

Keep on Speaking

Acts 18 9.jpg

Verse of the Day: Acts 18:9

One night the Lord spoke to Paul, “Do not be afraid, keep on speaking, do not be silent.

The Apostle Paul was in Corinth where his safety may have been at risk for sharing the Good News. It would have been so much easier to just stay quiet but the Lord directed him to not be afraid, to keep speaking and to not be silent and because Paul obeyed the Lord the church in Corinth flourished. We’re living in a society where everyone wants to give their opinion on anything and everything. As believers in Christ we must be courageous and willing to stand up for what we believe in, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Don’t be afraid to share Jesus with the world. The world needs to know that Jesus came to save them. Don’t worry if you don’t know the right words to say, just tell them what God has done for you.
