Your Rights vs. What is Right for You

1 corinthians 10 23

Verse of the Day:  1 Corinthians 10:23

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.

You may be determined to demand your rights as a citizen of this country but it’s not always what’s best for you as a Christian. Just because you have the right to do something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right for you. Though it may be lawful, it may not be beneficial to you as a Bible-believing follower of Christ. Do not let your rights become a stumbling block to others. Believers should waive what they have a right to when the peace and welfare of their fellow Christians require it (John Gill). Knowing the difference between your rights and what is right for you as a child of God comes with spiritual maturity and will help you to live according to God’s laws.

Enjoy Life

Ecclesiastes 3 12

Verse of the Day:  Ecclesiastes 3:12

I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.

God has given you the precious gift of life and He wants you to be happy and enjoy it. Enjoy all of God’s blessings with a thankful heart. Enjoy yourself in the things of the Lord. Spend time doing things that make you happy with the people you love. Whenever have the opportunity to do good for others, do it. Life is short and God doesn’t want you to go through it sad or discouraged. Be happy, keep life simple, love God and love people.

Oh Happy Day!

Psalm 118 24

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 118:24

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

If you’re reading this, it means God woke you up this morning and you have another day to praise and glorify God. Rejoice and be glad in it because you have received God’s grace and mercy and the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. You are the salt of the Earth go out into the world and spice things up with love, compassion and kindness. Let your light shine so that others can see Jesus in you. Each day is a precious gift from God and you should make the most of it. Rejoice, be happy, be kind and be open to new opportunities to be blessed and to be a blessing to others.

No Other Way

John 14 6 (4)

Verse of the Day:  John 14:6

Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Through the sacrifice made by Jesus on Calvary, God made a way for us to be saved from death and be with Him in heaven for all eternity. There is no other way to come to the Father, but through the Son. Not by works, merit or personal sacrifices. Jesus is the only way, He is our Savior, and there is no other way. He is the true way to the Father. His way is not only true but He is the truth itself. Christ is the author and giver of life, natural, spiritual and eternal. (John Gill’s Exposition)

Wise Decisions

James 1 5

Verse of the Day:  James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

God is the giver all good things including wisdom. We need God’s spiritual wisdom in our everyday lives to navigate this world. When you have a decision to make take it to the Lord in prayer. God is all-knowing, He knows your past, your present and your future. Bring your concerns to Him with sincerity and humility. Ask the Lord for guidance and wisdom to make good and right decisions. He promises that if you come to Him by faith asking for wisdom it will be given to you.

Keep Serving the Lord

Romans 12 11

Verse of the Day: Romans 12:11

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

This year has been difficult to say the least. We’ve had a lot to deal with including the coronavirus, being quarantined, loss of jobs, natural disasters and civil unrest. Our schools closed, work places closed, stores closed, even churches closed. Through it all, God is still with us. Don’t let your spiritual relationship become lukewarm. Don’t let the troubles of this world come between you and God. All these things are temporary and this is not our eternal home. Keep serving the Lord, keep reading the Word of God, keep praying, keep singing, keep praising and worshiping, keep your soul on fire for God!

Strong & Courageous

Joshua 1 9

Verse of the Day:  Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

When God calls you to do something, He gives you the strength and courage to do it. You don’t have to worry if you’re smart enough, gifted enough or skilled enough. All that matters is that God is with you. The Lord has commanded you to be strong and courageous. When you are afraid or discouraged, turn to God. It doesn’t matter what it is, you don’t have to do it alone, He will be with you every step of the way. Trust in God and in His power. He will give you the strength and courage to get through anything He calls you to do.

Take Refuge in the Lord

Psalm 57 1

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 57:1

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge.  I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.

It’s easy to profess your faith when everything is going well. The greatest acts of faith are proven when you trust in God when things go wrong, when things are out of your own control. By faith and prayer, you can take your troubles to the throne for God’s mercy and protection. There will be times when God delivers you from the storm and there will be times when He allows you to go through the storm so that when it’s over you come out stronger than before. If you find yourself going through a storm, take refuge in the shadow of His wings and remember that He will always be with you and He will see you through it.

Getting Through Dark Days

Psalm 43 5

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 43:5

Why, my soul, are you downcast?  Why so disturbed within me?  Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Life is not always sunshine and flowers. There are days when bad things happen, days when sadness creeps in and there are days when we just feel lonely. In these times, you need to lift your head toward God and give praise to your Savior. The way to forget your troubles is to remember God’s goodness. God loves you more than you will ever know. Turn to Him in your times of trouble. Thank Him for all the good in your life. He hasn’t forgotten you, He is close to the brokenhearted. Put your hope in God and rely on Him to get you through even the darkest of days. Let your faith and hope in God be the path to victory.

The Work of Our Hands

Psalm 90 17

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 90:17

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us — yes, establish the work of our hands.

Whatever you do, you should do it for the Lord and do it for His honor and glory. Let God’s love shine in you so that others may see His goodness. Conduct yourself in a positive light so that the beauty of God can be seen in everything you do. No matter what your job is, pray that the Lord would help you to accomplish your goals. Ask Him to bless the work of your hands so that you may be fruitful and productive. Ask Him to help you enjoy your work so you can see Him glorified in all aspects of your job and when your work is demanding, pray for strength and a good attitude.
