Love Is Not Selfish

Verse of the Day: Philippians 2:3

Do nothing from selfish or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.

We are living in an age where selfish ambition is the norm. Our culture teaches us to think of ourselves as the top priority and to put ourselves first in everything we do. But the Bible teaches us to be humble and not to think of ourselves as more important than others. True love is not selfish or self-centered. Love compromises, is considerate and thoughtful. Love puts the needs and happiness of others above our own and is more concerned with the needs of others. Nothing proves you love someone more than praying for them and for your relationship.

Lord, thank You for Your Word that teaches us and guides us through life. We thank you for being at the center of our marriage. We know in our hearts that a Christian marriage should not be selfish or self-centered. Lord, help us both to be a good spouse and to be loving, considerate and thoughtful. Help us to put the needs and happiness of our spouse above our own. Lord, we pray over our marriage so that we would grow stronger, closer and more in love each day. Amen
