Your Moment to Shine

Verse of the Day:  Esther 4:14

Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created.

God has a purpose and a plan for your life. The question is, will you submit to God’s will? You can go your entire life not knowing your purpose but when you humble yourself and submit to God’s will things start to fall into place. Seek God above all else with a sincere heart. Ask Him reveal your purpose and start following your God given dreams.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the purpose You have planned for my life. Let it be revealed as I walk in faith. I give myself to You so can use me for Your purpose and for Your honor and glory. Amen

God is Love

Verse of the Day:  1 John 4:16

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

God is love, is the first Bible verse I ever learned. I still remember the days, when as a child, I would walk to the front of our church, right up to the microphone set up for the children to recite Bible verses and proudly say, “God is love”. Let your first thoughts of the day be “God is love” and “God loves me”. When you come to really know and rely on these truths it will change the way you react to things that happen throughout your day. God loves you so much He sent His only Son to be your Savior. There is no greater love than the love God has for you. No matter what happens remind yourself that it’s going to be okay because God loves you. You can rely on God’s love for you and His strength will get you through the most difficult days if only you would trust in His unfailing love for you.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your overwhelming love that never fails. I know I can rely on You to see me through anything. I am so overwhelmed by Your love and truly amazed by Your goodness. I just want to love You more and more each day. Amen

Generosity

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 22:9

The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.

God is generous with us and He expects us to be generous with others. We serve a compassionate God and when we give ourselves to Him, He creates a compassionate heart in us. The awesome thing is that when we give to others from our heart, God blesses us even more.  Not only does He bless us with earthly blessing but He also blesses us spiritually. Be generous to those in need and do everything in love. No matter how much we give we can never out give God.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being so generous to me. I am so grateful for each and every one of the blessing You have bestowed upon me. Teach me to be generous to those in need and to give with a cheerful heart so that You may be glorified. Amen

Do Everything in Love

Verse of the Day:  1 Corinthians 16:14

Let all that you do be done in love.

Because of God’s love for us and our love for Him, everything we do should be done with love. From the simplest of things to the greatest, it should all be done with the love of God in our heart. Nothing we have can give us the joy and fulfillment we seek if we do not love others. Everything we do, our work, our charity, our life, all of it is in vain if it’s done without the love of God. Our love and concern for one another should shine through just as Jesus is the light of the world. Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping. (The Message)

Father, Your Word tells us that love is patient and kind. I confess that I do not always do things with love. Lord, help me to be more like You. Help me to love the way You do. Help me to do everything with genuine love for others in my heart. Amen

Love the Unlovable

Verse of the Day:  Luke 6:32

If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.

It’s easy to love someone who loves you and is good to you. The challenge then, is to love the unlovable and those who have been forgotten by society. Start seeing them the way God sees them. Love them like Jesus did and show mercy and grace to all who need salvation. Let the fruit of the Spirit be evident in the way you love the outcast, the poor and the sinner. Find ways to do good for them and to share the love of God with them and don’t forget to pray for them too.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your incredible, infinite and unfailing love. Even though I don’t deserve it, You still love me. Lord, help me to love the unlovable and the forgotten. Help me to see the best in people and to forgive the worst. Lord, help me to share Your love with the lost. Amen

Jesus Christ is Lord!

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 10:32

Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before people, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven.

Atheism and nontheism are on the rise around the world and the new generations just don’t have the same attitudes toward religion. Some may believe in other things like nature, self, crystals, or other gods, etc. To those who don’t know the Lord, Christianity has become uncool and old-fashioned. But the truth is, the world needs Jesus more than ever. It’s time for us to have the courage and confidence to privately and publicly stand up for what we believe in, Jesus Christ! Let the world know it’s not enough to believe in Jesus with our heart, we must also confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is the way, the truth and the life!

Lord, thank You for Your love and mercy. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus to die on the cross for me. I confess that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior! Thank You for the power of the resurrection and the hope that He is coming back again for His people! Amen

The Same Power Lives in You

Verse of the Day:  Romans 8:11

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

As born again believers your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit. You have the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead living inside of you. The grave could not hold Jesus, He was resurrected to be seated at the right hand of God. You are more than a conqueror over sin and death because you have the same victory through Jesus Christ! The same power that calms the raging sea, the same power that moves mountains, the same power that gives us hope lives in you and in me.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift and power of the Holy Spirit that lives in me. I pray that the Holy Spirit would teach me, lead me and guide me so that I may walk in Your ways and live a life that is pleasing to you. Amen

Resurrection Sunday (Easter)

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 28:1-10

Jesus Has Risen

1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

The Burial of Jesus and The Guard at the Tomb

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 27:57-66

The Burial of Jesus

57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.

The Guard at the Tomb

62 The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 63 “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ 64 So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.” 65 “Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 27:32-44 and Matthew 27:45-56

The Crucifixion of Jesus

32 As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. 33 They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). 34 There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. 35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. 36 And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. 37 Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38 Two rebels were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. 39 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads 40 and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!” 41 In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42 “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43 He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ” 44 In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

The Death of Jesus

45 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). 47 When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.” 48 Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49 The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.” 50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. 54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” 55 Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. 56 Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
