Mercy

Verse of the Day: Titus 3:5

He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.

The dictionary describes mercy as compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone to whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. We are all born sinners with sinful, selfish natures because of the sin that entered the world through Adam and Eve. We deserve the condemnation that came as a result of sin, which is death. But, because of God’s tender mercy, He sent His only Son to pay the price of sin so that we could be saved and made righteous. Instead of punishment, His merciful, free gift of salvation brings forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ our Savior.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your goodness and mercy. We don’t deserve it and we can’t earn it but You made a way for us to be saved. Thank You for the forgiveness of our sins and the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen
