Sharing God’s Word

Verse of the Day:  Exodus 4:12

Now go, I will help you speak and teach you what to say.

If God has given you the desire to share his Word with others don’t let fear stop you. It is said that Moses had difficulties expressing himself but the Lord was able to use him in a mighty way. God will also help you speak and teach you what to say through the Holy Spirit. Let God work through you as He gives you courage to share His Word and your testimony with others. Don’t let fear stop you, use every opportunity to tell the world about Jesus. Step out in faith and you will be fruitful.

Heavenly Father, let Your Holy Spirit give me the words and the courage to step out in faith to share the message of Your love and forgiveness. Amen

Guilt, Shame and Forgiveness

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 51:1-2

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

There isn’t anything you can do to earn God’s forgiveness. You are forgiven because of who God is not who you are. You are forgiven because God is merciful, loving and compassionate towards His people. God sent His only Son to pay the price for your sins. Pour out your soul to God for mercy and grace. Confess that you are a sinner who needs a Savior and believe that Jesus died to save you. You have been washed from your sins by the precious blood of the Lamb. Repent from your sin and let go of the guilt and shame of sin you’ve been carrying with you because God has forgiven you and wiped your slate clean. It’s time for you to forgive yourself and start living the life God planned for you.

Merciful God, thank You for the precious blood of the Lamb that has washed away my sins. Help me, God, to let go of the guilt and shame of my past so that I may live the life You have planned for me. Amen

Overlook an Offense

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 19:11

A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

Wise people are patient when others act offensively towards them. They don’t act or speak without thinking first. It doesn’t mean they accept what is contrary to their values and beliefs. It means they take time to evaluate the situation and act accordingly with patience and integrity. We’re living in a time where everyone is easily offended and are quick to anger, judge and criticize each other. We don’t necessarily have to agree with everyone, but we do need to be kind. Hurt people, hurt people, wise people try to understand. Instead of becoming angry show the offender God’s love and forgive them as God also forgives your offenses.

Heavenly Father, help me to be patient and kind, especially to those who are not. Help me to forgive as You have forgiven me. Amen

God’s Ways

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 119:15

I will meditate on your precepts, and contemplate your ways.

A precept is a command or a general rule intended to regulate behavior or thought. Instead of focusing on your problems or things that upset, disappoint or annoy you consider the way God wants you to deal with them. Think about how He wants you to respond. Refer to the scriptures and be mindful and obedient to God’s Word so that His precepts may direct you in the way you should go. God’s ways are pure and good and they are always better than our own. Keep God’s Word in your heart and let it guide your steps through life.

Heavenly Father, as I meditate on your Word and Your ways, give me greater understanding so that I may apply them to my life for Your ways are perfect. Let Your truth be planted deep within my heart so that it may guide me in the way I should go. Amen

The Golden Rule

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 7:12

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

The concept of the “Golden Rule” is a general truth that is found not only in the Holy Bible but appears in many other religions. It’s so basic and fundamental that we teach it to our children yet, we as adults sometimes forget to act according to this principle. Jesus’ teachings go further than the “Golden Rule”. He also teaches that we should treat everyone with fairness, justice, kindness, compassion, respect, mercy and forgiveness. Furthermore, He teaches us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you. We don’t always treat others the way we want to be treated and sometimes we fall short but thank God that the Holy Spirit convicts us and moves us to repentance. Do your best to love each other as Christ has loved you.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I fall short and do not treat others in the same way I want to be treated. Help me to do better by loving others as Christ has loved me. Amen

Stand Up, Speak Up

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 31:8

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

Speak up for the people who have no voice. Stand up for the oppressed. It’s our duty to help those who cannot help themselves. We must be protectors of those who are unable to plead their own cause. We ought to go into the world and do what we can to help the poor, the destitute and the suffering. It’s up to us to share the Gospel of Jesus with people so they too may know the mercy, forgiveness and love of God.

Merciful God, help me to stand up and speak up for those who cannot help themselves. Help me to encourage and inspire others by sharing the Gospel of Jesus so they too, may know Your goodness. Amen

What Does the Lord Require?

Verse of the Day:   Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

The Lord expects you to be obedient to His Word through faith. He wants you to treat others fairly and equally. You should behave in a morally righteous way, not self-righteous, but in accord with God’s laws and virtues. Be kind, merciful, compassionate and forgiving even to those who don’t deserve it. Be respectful, gentle and live modestly, not thinking too highly of yourself. Submit to God’s will and acknowledge Him in every part of your life and in every moment of every day. We all fall short, but God’s grace is bigger than our sins. Do your best to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy. Forgive me for the times when I fall short of Your expectations of me. Help me to walk in Your ways and to do my best to live a life that is pleasing to You. Amen

Godly Wisdom

Verse of the Day:  James 3:17

Wisdom that comes from heaven is pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

There is a difference between people who have Godly wisdom and people who are wise in their own eyes. Godly wisdom comes from the Lord and it gives us the desire to live a life that is obedient and respectful to God and His holiness no matter what trials we face. It helps us to see the best in people, to be patient and to forgive others and it also help us to step back in the interest of peace when appropriate. It allows us to be open to receiving good advice and godly counsel. It compels us to be merciful and compassionate toward all people leading us to do the good works God has already planned for us with a sincere and impartial heart. How do we get this wisdom? God reveals it through the Holy Spirit and through His Word to every believer in Christ who asks in faith.

Heavenly Father, I humbly come before You, almighty God, to ask for wisdom so that I may walk in Your ways, honor You, and live a fruitful life. Amen

Peace

Verse of the Day:  John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Things are going to happen in life that make you mad, sad, afraid or are just hard to get through. Don’t be troubled or afraid Jesus is the Prince of Peace and has given you the peace that is revealed in the Gospel. He’s left you peace that was paid for with His precious blood when He gave His life for you on Calvary. You cannot get true peace by your own means, nothing in this world will bring you true peace because the world does not have peace. By faith you are able to receive this precious gift of peace that is Jesus Christ Himself. When your heart is hurting, troubled or afraid turn to Jesus. He’ll give you peace beyond anything compared to in this world and it is available to all that will trust in Him.

Thank You, Jesus, for the peace You have given me. By faith, I claim it and receive it! Amen

Pray for All People

Verse of the Day:  1 Timothy 2:1

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people

Take time to pray for your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Pray for your pastor and your church. Pray for our leaders and people in authority and while you’re at it, pray for your enemies as well. Pray that God would protect them and keep them from any evil the enemy has planned. Pray for God to bless and provide for them knowing that all good things come from our Heavenly Father. Humbly come before the Lord with your specific prayers asking God for His will to be done as you intercede for others. Whether your prayers our general or specific, thank God for hearing your prayer and thank Him for His love and mercy for all people. We don’t always know what people are going through but we can be sure that they can always use our prayers and we can be confident that no prayer is ever wasted.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation and for every blessing You have poured over my life. Today, I come before You to intercede on behalf of my family and friends. Lord, I pray for their needs, their health and most importantly, their salvation. Amen
