Verse of the Day: Mark 12:31
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.
We all know we are supposed to love our neighbors but often we forget the “as yourself” part of this verse. We put everyone else’s needs first but the truth is we can’t love anyone else if we don’t take care of our own health, mind, body and spirit. Many of us struggle with loving and taking care of ourselves. We even feel guilty for doing so, but loving yourself means we give ourselves a reasonable amount of self-care and self-respect. You are a child of God and it’s okay to love yourself with humility and godliness. Make self-care a priority this year, enjoy some “me” time without feeling guilty and remember, you can’t pour out blessings from an empty cup.
Fruit of the Spirit: Loving others sometimes seems to be a lot easier than loving yourself. Self-care simply means doing things that impact your well-being physically, mentally, and spiritually. Practice Love, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, and Gentleness toward yourself so that you may honor God with a healthy mind, body, and soul.
