Verse of the Day: Matthew 5:43-44
You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Today, we honor the memory of civil rights activist the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was not only an activist who fought against racism and for social and political change, but he was also a pastor and a man of God whose ideas and beliefs on love, equality, and unity among all people were rooted in the Bible. I encourage you to read Dr. King’s most famous speech, “I Have a Dream” and to learn more about this Nobel Peace Prize winner and how God used him to lead a movement.
Fruit of the Spirit: “Every genuine expression of Love grows out of a consistent and total surrender to God.” – Martin Luther King, Jr. To grow the Fruit of the Spirit, Love, you must not only Love God, but also Love your enemy.
