Verse of the Day: Psalm 86:5
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.
I’m so grateful we serve a forgiving God. If not for his forgiveness, grace and mercy where would we be? He loved us so much he sent his only Son to die on the cross to pay for our sins so we could receive forgiveness. He is ready to forgive, he won’t hold back, all we have to do is come to him with a sincere heart and ask to be forgiven through faith.
Verse of the Day: Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
The Lord pours his blessings and grace on his people. He alone is the reason for my blessings and peace. Don’t waste your time on lucky charms, four leaf clovers or any other superstitions. Instead, spend time in prayer with the living God who hears your prayers. Thank God for all your blessing for every good and perfect gift comes from above.
Verse of the Day: Ephesians 6:11
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Just like a soldier going into battle we too must put on our full armor. God has equipped us with all we need to stand up to the devil’s plans with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Before we go into battle we must recognize that we already have the victory through Jesus Christ.
Verse of the Day: Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
We live in an ever changing world and change is inevitable for better or worse. There is a saying some people think comes from the Bible but it doesn’t: “This too shall pass”. It’s an adage reflecting on the temporary nature, or ephemerality, of the human condition. (Wikipedia) I’m sure it has helped some people get through tough times, but there is something even better, something you can always count on, the never changing Word of God. It was true yesterday, it’s true today and it will be true forever.
Verse of the Day: Galatians 5:16
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
It doesn’t matter what kind of temptation comes knocking at your door you can only get so far with your own willpower. You may be able to fight temptation yourself for a little while but soon willpower alone will not be enough. Instead of trusting your own willpower, turn to God and trust in his power. Instead of trying to do it on your own, walk by the Spirit and be victorious.
Verse of the Day: Psalm 150:6
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
No matter what is going on in your life, God is worthy of your praise. If things are going well, praise him. If things aren’t going well, praise him. His love and mercy endure forever, God is great and worthy of all praise. As long as you have breath in your body praise the Lord. And when you get to heaven praise him for all eternity!
Verse of the Day: Philippians 2:5
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus
In everything you do and as you interact with people, follow the example of Jesus Christ. Before you speak, before you act, ask yourself how Jesus would handle the situation. In the 90s the phrase “What Would Jesus Do?” (WWJD) became popular as a reminder to follow the example of Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus was humble, obedient, patient, giving, forgiving, loved God and all people. Live your life in such a way that others will see Jesus in you.
