God’s Promises

Verse of the Day:  Hebrews 6:18

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.

The Bible tells us that God cannot lie and His promises are unchangeable. We can be confident in and count on God’s promises for all eternity. Not only can we count on God’s promises but we can also live our lives by them. By faith we can receive and claim each and every promise God makes through His everlasting Word. As firm believers in God’s promises we are comforted in all situations by the hope and encouragement we have by trusting and patiently waiting on the promises of God to be fulfilled, either in this world or in heaven.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for the wonderful hope you give us in your unchanging promises. By faith, we believe and claim every promise over our lives. Help us to live confidently knowing that every promise will be fulfilled either in this world or in heaven.  Amen

Future Hope

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 23:18

There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

As followers of Christ we have the hope for a future not only here on earth but in heaven and for all eternity. Our hope is not anchored in things that are temporary but in God who is the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come. (Revelation 1:8) Our hope is in the Lord because He is our help and our shield and we can rely on His promises and plans for today, for tomorrow and for the future. Because our hope is in the Lord we know that no matter what we go through here on earth our story will have a happy ending and our reward will be in heaven.

Name Above All Names

Verse of the Day:   Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The Messiah, born to a virgin, is a gift from God, His only Son came to save mankind. He is described as Wonderful because of His glorious nature, Counselor because He knew God’s plan and revealed it to all of mankind. He is called Mighty God because He is God as well as man, Everlasting Father of all believers. He is the Prince of Peace who purchased peace between God and men when He died on the cross for our sins. God gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of JESUS every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)

Kindness and Charity

Matthew 25:40

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 25:40

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

As believers in Christ we should be known for our good deeds. We don’t do them because we are trying to get into heaven. Jesus already made the way for us. We do good deeds because of the grace that has been shown to us. We do good deeds because we have the love of God inside of us and we do good deeds because we want to be more like Christ. Love is kind and God commands us to love one another. Be kind, practice random acts of kindness and charity, not because of who they are but because of who you are, a child of God.  Share God’s goodness with those in need. Do what you can as often as you can for as many as you can.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 5: Thankful for God’s Peace

Colossians 3:15

Verse of the Day:  Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

When you have a personal relationship with Jesus, His peace pours into your heart. When you trust in the Lord with all your heart you can live at peace no matter what is happening around you. The closer you get to God the more start to see how His peace changes your heart. What may have once been angry and hurtful doesn’t have to be that way anymore. It’s up to you to decide if you are going to let God in and change your once hardened heart. Be thankful for the peace God freely gives through Jesus Christ to all believers.

Hang in There

Verse of the Day:  Romans 8:18

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

It’s not always easy being a Christian in the current condition and culture of this world. Sin is running rampant and people are trying to take God out of everything. But we who believe need to stand firm and hold on to the Word of God. Even when it seems hard to be strong in our faith and it feels like we are constantly fighting to survive we need to continue to be faithful because our sufferings are only for a moment but our glory and reward will be eternal. Nothing we go through here in this lifetime can compare in the least to how wonderful heaven will be. We know that in heaven there will no more death, mourning, crying or pain and it will all be worth it when we are in the presence of God all mighty.

Go and Bear Fruit

John 15 16 (2)

Verse of the Day:  John 15:16

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

Just like the Disciples, you have been chosen to be part of the body of Christ. God chose you to be part of His family even before the foundation of the world. You are a part of His plan and you have a purpose. You have been appointed to go out and bear fruit, to share the Gospel of Christ and bring souls to Jesus. We, as believers in Christ, are all ministers in that we are working for God’s kingdom. You are encouraged continue the work God has called you to do and if you ask the Father in Jesus’ name, He will give you whatever you need to be successful and fruitful.

God Sees and Hears You

Psalm 34 15

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 34:15

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.

Righteousness is more than the things we do; it’s what Jesus did for us on Calvary. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. This is true for everyone who believes. (Romans 3:22 NLT) We can be comforted in knowing that not only are the eyes of the Lord upon us to watch over and protect us but His ears are also attentive to our cries. Because we have been made right with God we can rest assured that when we are in distress we can cry out to Him and He will hear us and answer our prayers.

Grace

Ephesians 2 8

Verse of the Day:  Ephesians 2:8

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith; and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Salvation is a gift graciously given from God because of His great and eternal love for us. You cannot buy it, earn it, work for it or get it based on your own abilities. It is the free, undeserved goodness and favor of God and it is a gift you can only receive by faith. Through God’s plan and His covenant of grace, Jesus paid for this gift when He died on the cross for our sins. As believers, everything we have, everything we are and everything we do is all because of God’s saving, forgiving and redeeming grace that blesses us all.

Why We Should Serve

Mark 10 45 2

Verse of the Day:  Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

As believers in Jesus Christ we should follow the example He set for us. He is the beloved Son of God, the Prince of Peace, the King of Kings, the Messiah yet He came to serve. How then can any of us ever think too highly of ourselves that we cannot serve others. Jesus showed us how to help the sick, the poor and the needy and we must, with humility and love, also do the same. He is calling us to serve others with a heart of compassion. He is giving us the opportunity to serve God by serving others and making the world a better place.
