Serve One Another

Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.    

Jesus was born a King, yet by His example, He teaches us to be humble. The Bible says that Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. As ambassadors of Christ our lives should exemplify His characteristics and should reflect Christ in us. Let’s follow His example of humility by serving the less fortunate. You can touch lives with your kindness and service to others by sharing the hope and love of Jesus Christ. Although Covid 19 has changed the way we may be used to volunteering there are still ways you can safely be of service in your community and remotely. Do good, be rich in good works, ready to give and willing to share. (1 Timothy 6:18)

Your Thoughts and Character

Philippians 4:8

Verse of the Day:  Philippians 4:8     

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praise worthy think about such things.         

Fill your mind with positive thoughts that build you up. Focus on the positive things in your life and surround yourself with likeminded people. Your thoughts become words, your words become actions, your actions become habits and your habits become your character, your character decides your destiny here and for eternity. Life isn’t always easy but when you have God’s peace and His Word in your heart, it will keep you from falling when troubles arise. Always have a thankful heart that chooses to see the good.

Know Your Worth

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 31:10    

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.  

You are a woman of worth because of what is found on the inside not on the outside. Your high moral standards and character are worth more than fleeting beauty. Nobel characteristics like honesty, generosity and courage are more important than your dress size, bank account or your looks. Your worth is found in God, your relationship with Him and who He says you are, not in the opinions of others. Just in case you have forgotten, you were created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and are the apple of His eye (Zechariah 2:8). God loves you (Jeremiah 31:3) and you are His (Isaiah 43:1). So when you doubt your self-worth remember that Jesus paid the ultimate price to save you because you are worth far more than rubies.

Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. (GNT)

If you think your thoughts don’t matter you are very wrong.  When you think about things or believe something, whether it’s good or bad, it turns into the things you do. If you do these things enough times they turn into a habit. Your habits determine your character and your character determines your spiritual life. Ultimately, your spiritual life determines where you will spend eternity. So you see, your thoughts really do matter.

Show Kindness to Your Enemy

Proverbs 25 21-22

Verse of the Day:        Proverbs 25:21-22

If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.  In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.

Have you ever heard the expression “kill them with kindness”?  It means to put an end to anger and bitterness by showing kindness and generosity. As metals are melted by heaping coals upon them, so is the heart softened by kindness. (Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary) The more you treat your enemy with unexpected kindness and generosity the more they will see the same love, forgiveness, mercy and grace that the Lord shows you.  Show kindness even to people who don’t deserve it, not as a reflection of their character but as a reflection of yours.
