New Beginnings

Verse of the Day:  Lamentations 3:22-23

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Today is finally the last day of 2020. Tomorrow is the first day of the new year, it’s a chance for a new beginning. Put the past behind you and start this new year with your focus on God. He loves you, He is merciful and His compassion never fails. Our current circumstances may be overwhelming and our bodies may fail us but our soul will not be crushed as long as we have faith, hope and love. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and see that He is good. I pray that the new year will bring you closer to God than ever before. May the LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Keep God First

Verse of the Day:   Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

This is the time of year when we start thinking about our New Year’s resolutions. We decide to make changes and declare goals that will help to improve our lives. The year 2020 did not go as planned for almost everyone. So much has happened this year, so many lives lost, so much pain and suffering. Yet, if we believe in God, we have hope for a better year in 2021. The Bible tells us that that if we seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, He will take care of all our needs. Your main focus for 2021 should be to have a closer relationship with the Lord, studying His Word and living according to His will. Set your mind on things above and let your thoughts and goals be focused on Christ and your future home, heaven. As you contemplate your New Year’s resolutions be mindful to include goals that allow you to put God first in your life. Set goals that bring you closer to God daily and long-term. You can reach your goals when you make specific plans and stick to them.

That I May Know Him Better

Ephesians 1 17.jpg

Verse of the Day: Ephesians 1:17

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.

My deepest desire is that I may know God more and that I may grow closer to Him with every day, week, month and year that passes. My hope is that I may continue to gain wisdom and revelation that brings me closer to God. I want a deeper relationship with my God that helps me to live a life more pleasing to Him. I want my creator to fix what is broken in me, to heal what the world has hurt in me so that I can be who He created me to be. I want more of you, God, less of me and more of you.

Earnestly Seek God

Psalm 63 1.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 63:1

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

If you really want to have a closer relationship with God seek him by faith with a sincere heart and mind.  You must turn from evil, confess your sins and be obedient to his Word. Make spending time with him a priority over everything else. Humble yourself before him and worship him with all of your heart and you will surely find him.

Morning Rituals

Psalm 143 8

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 143:8

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.  Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

As soon as I open my eyes and wake up each morning there are a two things that cross my mind:  God and coffee.  I’ve made it a habit to start my day with prayer, God’s Word and coffee and have come to depend on them to get me through the day. If you want a closer relationship with God get into the habit of praying and reading the Bible daily. All you need is a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus.
