“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Today, we honor the memory of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. He was not only an activist who fought against racism and for social and political change but he was also a pastor and a man of God whose ideas and beliefs on love, equality and unity among all people were rooted in the Bible. I encourage you to read King’s most famous speech, “I Have a Dream” and to learn more about this Nobel Peace Prize winner and how God used him to lead a movement.
Lord, I ask you for courage to stand up for what is right and just. Help me to love my neighbor as Christ loves us. Bring peace and healing to both the oppressed and the oppressors. Help us to always walk in your ways, Lord, as we totally surrender to Your will. Amen
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Leave the past behind you, don’t look back, keep looking forward to what God has planned for you. It’s a new year and you are a new creation in Christ. God’s mercies are new every morning and it’s never too late to start over. The greatest change in your soul cannot be made by will power. It can only be made by God’s power! Make this a year of faith and courage focused on God!
Now go, I will help you speak and teach you what to say.
If God has given you the desire to share his Word with others don’t let fear stop you. It is thought that Moses had difficulties expressing himself but the Lord was able to use him in a mighty way. God will also help you speak and teach you what to say through the Holy Spirit. Let God work through you as He gives you courage to share His Word and your testimony with others. Don’t let fear stop you, use every opportunity to tell the world about Jesus. Step out in faith and you will be fruitful.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
God wants you to run the race He planned and designed specifically for you. Don’t compare your race to anyone else’s race. You are uniquely you and that’s how God planned it to be. We are all running toward the same goal but each one of us needs to run our own race. Ask God for the strength and courage to get rid of anything that comes between you and Him. Keep your eyes on the prize and keep your focus on God. There will be temptations and obstacles but by faith and obedience we need to persevere. Keep seeking the Lord’s will for your life, don’t let anything get in your way and never give up.
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
You are a woman of worth because of what is found on the inside not on the outside. Your high moral standards and character are worth more than fleeting beauty. Nobel characteristics like honesty, generosity and courage are more important than your dress size, bank account or your looks. Your worth is found in God, your relationship with Him and who He says you are, not in the opinions of others. Just in case you have forgotten, you were created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and are the apple of His eye (Zechariah 2:8). God loves you (Jeremiah 31:3) and you are His (Isaiah 43:1). So when you doubt your self-worth remember that Jesus paid the ultimate price to save you because you are worth far more than rubies.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
When God calls you to do something, He gives you the strength and courage to do it. You don’t have to worry if you’re smart enough, gifted enough or skilled enough. All that matters is that God is with you. The Lord has commanded you to be strong and courageous. When you are afraid or discouraged, turn to God. It doesn’t matter what it is, you don’t have to do it alone, He will be with you every step of the way. Trust in God and in His power. He will give you the strength and courage to get through anything He calls you to do.
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Let’s all make an effort to encourage the people around us, especially the people we love and care about most. Kindness doesn’t cost a thing yet it’s so valuable. We can build each other up with loving and kind words that promote hope and courage. A kind word can change someone’s entire day and we all can use a little kindness. Encourage love and kindness for they are never wasted in God’s eyes.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
I am a witness to God’s power changing lives through the gift of the Holy Spirit. I am no longer the same and now through the power of the Holy Spirit I am a witness to Christ’s message of love, forgiveness and salvation. The Holy Spirit will give you courage to face the enemy and to abide in God’s truth. The Holy Spirit will also give you strength to endure difficulties and to persevere so that you can testify to God’s mercy and grace for all who believe in Jesus Christ. You too are a witness and can share what the Lord has done for you.
Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before people, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven.
Atheism is on the rise around the world, the new generations aren’t going to church like they used to. To those who don’t know the Lord, Christianity has become uncool and old-fashioned. But the truth is, the world needs Jesus more than ever. It’s time for us to have the courage and confidence to privately and publicly stand up for what we believe in, Jesus Christ! Let the world know it’s not enough to believe in Jesus with our heart, we must also confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is the way, the truth and the life!
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
You don’t have to be an eloquent speaker to tell people about Jesus. All you need is the willingness to share your own story. Just tell others what God’s love, goodness, grace and mercy has done in your life. You don’t have to be educated or skilled in a specific vocation to volunteer to help the poor, you just need to show up. You don’t have to be rich or powerful to make a difference. Ordinary people like you and me with some God given courage and a love for Jesus can make an extraordinary difference to somebody.
