Draw Near to God

Verse of the Day:  James 4:8

Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.

Faith in Action: God loved you first and He is waiting for you to take the next step by inviting Him into every part of your life. Draw near to God and receive His love, grace, mercy, peace, and forgiveness.

Draw Near to God

Verse of the Day:  James 4:8

Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.

Draw near to God, come to Him by faith, with true repentance and obedience, leaving your sins behind you. Study the Word of God to learn who He really is. Come to the foot of the throne and seek His presence with a sincere heart through prayer, fasting, praise and worship for He is truly worthy. God loved you first and is waiting for you to take the next step by inviting Him into every part of your life. He loves you more than you can ever imagine and when you draw near to Him, He draws near to you by granting you His gracious presence, by communicating His love to you, by applying the blessings of His grace, by helping you in times of need and distress and by protecting you from you enemies. (John Gill’s Exposition of the Bible) Come to God and receive His love, grace, mercy, peace and forgiveness.

Heavenly Father, more than anything I want to draw closer to You. I give You my heart and invite You into every part of my life. Be with me Lord, guide me and help me to be more like You. I need more of You, Lord. Amen.

The Lifter of My Head

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 3:3

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

Thanksgiving Day is over and not everyone has or was able to spend time with family and friends. This has been an extremely difficult year for many people and for some, the holidays can be a lonely and sad time. I sometimes feel it too. I miss loved ones that have gone to be with the Lord and those who can’t be near me. But we are not alone, God is with us in every moment of every day. If we focus on the Lord, His goodness and our blessings He will get us through it. He will give us comfort, peace and joy when we draw near to Him.

Worship Over Rituals

Hosea 6 6.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Hosea 6:6

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Rituals and sacrifices have their place in organized religion but God is more pleased with love and compassion. More than anything God wants you to know Him on a personal level and wants you to love and trust Him with all your heart. He wants to have an intimate relationship with you and He wants you to draw closer to Him.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 5:  Thankful for God’s Peace

1 11-18 1 Colossians 3 15

Verse of the Day:  Colossians 3:15

Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts and always be thankful.

Today I am thankful that I have God’s peace in my life.  The other day I was talking to someone who was telling me about all the stress and drama in their life and afterward all I could think was, “Thank God I have peace in my life!” It wasn’t always this way though, through the years I’ve learned to trust in the Lord with all my heart and I’ve learned to let go and let Him have His way.  I know that God is in control and the closer I draw to Him the more peace I have.
