Mercy

Titus 3 5 (2).jpg

Verse of the Day:  Titus 3:5

He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.

The dictionary describes mercy as compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. We are all born sinners with sinful, selfish natures because sin entered the world through Adam and Eve. We deserve the condemnation that came as a result of sin, which is death. But, because of God’s mercy, He sent His only Son to pay the price of sin so that we could be made right. His merciful gift of salvation brought forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Don’t Be Fooled

Psalm 14 1.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 14:1

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

Today is April Fools’ day, a day in which people play practical jokes and spread hoaxes.  It’s all about fun and games.  However, the Bible says only a fool would deny the existence of God. Where you will spend eternity is no joking matter.  Matthew 25:46 says: And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. Don’t be fooled into thinking there is no God, seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near. (Isaiah 55:6)

You Are Precious

isaiah 43 4

Verse of the Day:  Isaiah 43:4

Because you are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you.

Are you seeing yourself the way God sees you?  You are God’s own creation and we know that He doesn’t make mistakes.  You have worth, you are a jewel and you belong to God.  You have been adopted into His own family, you are His child and an heir to His kingdom.  God has given you gifts and talents to use for His purpose because He has a plan for you.  He loves you so much He gave His Only Son so you could have eternal life. Stop worrying about the way the world sees you and start seeing yourself the way God sees you, as His precious daughter.

O Holy Night

John 3 17

Verse of the Day:  John 3:17

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

The star was shining brightly in the City of David on the night the Savior was born. God sent His only Son to offer the grace of the gospel, eternal life and salvation, that the world through Him might be saved.  The birth of Christ, the Messiah, was proclaimed by angels to the shepherds who went to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus lying in the manger. Take a moment to reflect on the greatest gift ever given, Jesus Christ our Savior.

The Indescribable Gift

2 Corinthians 9 15.jpg

Verse of the Day:  2 Corinthians 9:15

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

What God gives us through Christ is more valuable than any other present we could ever receive on Christmas day.  Through the gift of God’s only Son, Jesus Christ our Savior we have been given the gifts of forgiveness, peace, hope, love, righteousness, redemption, joy, victory, eternal life and so much more.  Thank Him today for His indescribable gift!

The Gift of Eternal Life

Romans 6 23 christmas.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Spiritual death and separation from God is the price we pay for sin.  But because of God’s love for humanity He sent His only Son to pay the price that set us free. Eternal life is given by the grace of God through faith in Jesus, not by our own efforts or works so that no one will ever be able to boast that He earned or deserved eternal life, it is a free gift of God.

Jesus is the Greatest Gift

John 3 16

Verse of the Day:  John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God loved each one of us so much He gave the greatest gift ever, His only Son, Jesus Christ. God gave us His Son and the Son gave His life for us. This was all part of the plan of salvation so we could receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life. Because of God’s grace and mercy, the gift of salvation is available to all through Christ Jesus our Lord.
