Verse of the Day: Proverbs 3:1-2
Do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.
People often joke about life not coming with an instruction manual. It actually does, it’s called The Holy Bible. The Book of Proverbs is an excellent place to start if you’re looking for instructions. It is an example of the Biblical wisdom tradition, and raises questions of values, moral behavior, the meaning of human life, and right conduct. (Wikipedia) If we live our lives according to God’s commands and keep His Word in our heart we can avoid many problems and live a long, peaceful and prosperous life. Even better than that, we can live forever in heaven.
Verse of the Day: Psalm 150:6
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
No matter what is going on in your life, God is worthy of your praise. If things are going well, praise Him. If things aren’t going well, praise Him. Praise God through faith, with love and confidence of His goodness. Praise Him for the victory of salvation. Praise Him cheerfully and with joy for His love and mercy endure forever. God is great and worthy of all praise. As long as you have breath in your body praise the Lord. And when you get to heaven you can praise Him for all eternity!
Verse of the Day: Galatians 4:4-5
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
God had predetermined that He would send His Son, Jesus, to save the world from sin. When that time came He sent Jesus to live among us and to ultimately pay the price for ours sins, bringing redemption to all humanity. Jesus was born and died so that through faith we could receive the gift of adoption with the power, authority and privilege from God through Jesus and a right to our heavenly inheritance for all eternity. Verse of the Day: Mark 8:36
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
There is nothing in this world worth losing your soul for. That may sound harsh but it is the reality. A big house, expensive car, your career, fame, fortune, none of it is worth losing your soul. You can’t take any of those things with you into eternity. It may feel or seem good in the moment but your time on earth is just a speck compared to all eternity. Whatever pulls you away from God needs to go, let nothing come between you and God. Instead, put Jesus first and live a life of faith and holiness. Don’t lose your soul over something temporary and just to be clear, everything on earth is temporary.
Verse of the Day: Philippians 4:8
Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praise worthy think about such things.
Fill your mind with positive thoughts that build you up. Focus on the positive things in your life and surround yourself with likeminded people. Your thoughts become words, your words become actions, your actions become habits and your habits become your character, your character decides your destiny here and for eternity. Life isn’t always easy but when you have God’s peace and Word in your heart and mind it will keep you from falling when troubles arise.
Verse of the Day: Psalm 16:11
You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Until we find the path that leads us back to God we will have a longing to be complete. The only thing that can fill the emptiness is the love of God. This world is not our home, heaven if our final destination. We are merely on the road that leads us to our Father’s house. How wonderful to be on the path that was laid out for us by our creator for one day we will be seated at His right hand in the joyful presence of our Savior.
Verse of the Day: Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart may fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
We are not perfect, we make mistakes and we fall to temptations and tribulations. No matter how much we want to do better we sometimes fail, we sometimes let God and ourselves down. But we serve a loving God and no matter how many times we fall, He picks us up. He continues to love us because His love never fails. He loves us not because of who we are but because of who He is. Although we don’t have the strength to carry on ourselves, we have strength through God who is our ever present, never failing refuge for all eternity.
