Tis the Season to Be Jolly

James 1:19

Verse of the Day:   James 1:19

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry

Tis the season to be jolly. Even though it’s the most wonderful time of the year people are busy, stressed out, in a hurry and not always as polite as they can be. As Christians, don’t forget what the season is really about and let’s try to set an example of how to treat others. For some, the holidays can be a very stressful time. Lack of time, money worries, gift-giving pressure, anxiety and depression are often experienced even more during the holidays. This year things will be a little different with all the Covid-19 precautions. As we are out and about, we need to wear masks, stay 6 feet apart, and some stores may only let a few people in at a time, let’s remember to be patient, kind and slow to anger to everyone we come across. Christmas is meant to be joyful and it doesn’t cost anything to be kind. If you feel yourself getting stressed out or angry, take a deep breath, say a little prayer and try to focus on the Lord and the real reason for the season.

The Lifter of My Head

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 3:3

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

Thanksgiving Day is over and not everyone has or was able to spend time with family and friends. This has been an extremely difficult year for many people and for some, the holidays can be a lonely and sad time. I sometimes feel it too. I miss loved ones that have gone to be with the Lord and those who can’t be near me. But we are not alone, God is with us in every moment of every day. If we focus on the Lord, His goodness and our blessings He will get us through it. He will give us comfort, peace and joy when we draw near to Him.

The Words of Your Mouth

Psalm 19 14 2

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 19:14

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Let your words and thoughts be pleasing to God when you pray, praise and give thanks. Likewise, let your words be pleasing and acceptable to Him in your everyday conversations and thoughts. Fill your mind and heart with positive thinking so there will be no room for negativity or sinful thoughts. Sometimes it’s difficult to stay positive in a negative world, but if you stay focused on the Lord who is your Rock and Redeemer, you can have peace in all circumstances.

Live Wisely

Ephesians 5 15-16

Verse of the Day:  Ephesians 5:15-16

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

We are living in troubled times and it’s so easy to go astray from God’s ways. We need to live our lives conscientiously and with purpose. Jesus is your example of how to live a righteous and honorable life. Be diligent and wise in your decisions, making the most of every opportunity, always keeping your eyes focused on the Lord. Ask God to give you the wisdom you need to make the right decisions in your daily life and He will gladly give it to you.

Praise His Name

Psalm 99 3

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 99:3

Let them praise your great and awesome name – he is holy.

The Lord is so worthy of our praise. We serve a mighty God who is wonderful, merciful and faithful. Praise Him for who He is, for His goodness and holiness. Praising His holy name invites His presence and opens a path to a deeper connection and relationship with our Creator and the King of the world. Focus on the Lord and give Him all your attention and praise Him with all your heart and soul. Just come before the Lord to give Him praise, honor and glory. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
