10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 3: Thankful for Another Day of Life

Psalm 106 1.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 106:1

Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

I woke up this morning and if you’re reading this so did you, but not everyone did, so be thankful for another day of life. Praise God and give thanks to the Lord. He is deserving of all praise. No matter what is going on in your life there is always something to be thankful for. God’s love is forever and He is gracious, merciful and ready to forgive. God never gives up on us even when we don’t deserve another chance His mercies are new every morning. Life is a precious gift from God so as long as you have breath in your lungs give thanks to the Lord.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 1: Thankful for All of God’s Wonderful Deeds

Psalm 9 1

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 9:1

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

Thanksgiving Day is quickly approaching and I thought it would be nice to share some of the things I am thankful for.  This year our family went through the one of the hardest seasons we’ve had to go through together. In July, my husband was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer. Because of God’s great mercy, the cancer was found early enough for the tumor to be removed. He recovered from the surgery and did not have to have chemo therapy. For that alone, we are so grateful to God for his healing. But the story doesn’t end there. My husband is the sole supporter for our family and with him being unable to work during the recovery process we came very close to losing everything we have. But God made a way where there was no way. The Lord put it in the heart of many to help us along the way. Every time I thought we were at the end of the road the Lord opened up a new door. I was repeatedly reminded of God’s goodness as He kept showing us time after time that if we trust in Him, He will make a way. Through it all, my faith has been made stronger and I am so thankful for my relationship with the Lord and for His amazing grace. My heart is filled with gratitude for all the things He has done for us. He has renewed my spirit and because of this I am so thankful and like David, I want to share His wonderful deeds and goodness with the world.

God Is Good All the Time

1 Chronicles 16 34

Verse of the Day:  1 Chronicles 16:34

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

The Bible doesn’t say, “Give thanks to the Lord when you feel good”.  It says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good”.  Giving thanks shouldn’t be based on how you feel, it should be based on who God is, and He is good all the time. If you’re reading this it means you woke up this morning, thank God for waking you up. Thank God for all He’s done for you both big and small. Thank God for what He’s done for you both seen and unseen. Thank God for the things that didn’t happen, the things you didn’t even know you need protection from. Praise God because there is always something to be thankful for.

Rejoice, Pray, Give Thanks!

1 Thessalonians 5 16-18 (2)

Verse of the Day:  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ.

We don’t always need to change our circumstances sometimes we just need to change the way we see them.   No matter what you are going through keep rejoicing in the Lord, keep praying and keep giving thanks to God.  Don’t give up on God because He’ll never give up on you.

Monday, Monday

Psalm 118 24

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 118:24

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

If you’re reading this, it means God woke you up this morning and you have another day to praise and glorify God.  Each day is a precious gift from God and you should make the most of it. Rejoice, be thankful, be kind and be open to new opportunities to be blessed and to be a blessing to others.

A Cheerful Heart

Proverbs 15 15.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 15:15

All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.

You can choose to be worried and miserable or you can choose to trust God and be happy.  The way to a cheerful heart begins in giving thanks to God in every situation. You can always find something to be thankful for even if you have to look a little harder.

Helping Others

Acts 20 35 (2)

Verse of the Day:  Acts 20:35

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

I once read an article about random acts of kindness raising dopamine levels and boosting your mood. Shortly afterwards I happened to read Acts 20:35 and it all made sense.  We feel good when we do good deeds for others because we are blessed when we give unselfishly. Give what you can whether it’s your time, money, goods or encouragement and you will be blessed.

A Joyful Heart

Proverbs 17 22.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 17:22

A joyful heart is good medicine.

Feeling joy in ordinary things isn’t as hard as it seems.  To find joy in your life focus on the good and be grateful for what you have. It’s not happy people who are thankful, it’s thankful people who are happy.   Give thanks to the Lord for in his presence is fullness of joy.

Praise the Lord

Psalm 119 164

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 119:164

Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws.

There is no set number of times a day we must praise God. But wouldn’t it be wonderful if we just stopped what we were doing throughout the day to giving thanks and honor to one who is worthy of praise? We have so much to be thankful for and it doesn’t take but a few moments to say, “Thank you God!”. Lift up your hands, praise Him with your words, with your singing, with your dancing, just praise the Lord for He is good and worthy of all praise!

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 10: Happy Thanksgiving!

1 Chronicles 29 13.jpg

Verse of the Day: 1 Chronicles 29:13

Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.

I want to wish you all a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!  Over the past few days I’ve shared with you some of things I’m thankful for but there are so many reasons to be thankful that I would never be able to express them all.  As we give thanks to our Lord on this day let’s remember that He is good all the time and we should be thankful every day of the year.  May God bless you today and always. Happy Thanksgiving!
