Verse of the Day: Psalm 103:10
He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
Mercy is when God gives us love, compassion and forgiveness instead of giving us the punishment we deserve for our sins. God’s mercy for His people is demonstrated throughout the Bible but God’s mercy is entirely displayed through Jesus who paid the price for our sins so that we might be reconciled to God. We deserved the punishment of death for our sins but God, who loves us more than we could ever imagine, sent His only Son to save us. God’s mercy doesn’t end at the cross, it’s available to us whenever we are in need. Come confidently to the throne, make your requests known to the Lord and receive mercy for today.
Verse of the Day: Deuteronomy 4:29
But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
God isn’t far from you, He’s always with you, you need only to seek Him with all of your heart and soul. He wants to have a relationship with you but even though He could, He’s not going to force you to have a relationship with Him because He wants you to choose to love Him. The most important thing you can ever do isn’t found in the busyness of your life, it is found in the quiet times seeking God. Seek Him with a sincere heart, pray, read the Bible and turn from sin. God loves you and He is merciful, if you give your heart to Him and make Him a priority in your life you’ll see for yourself how good your heavenly Father is.
Verse of the Day: Lamentations 3:22-23
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Tomorrow is the first day of a new year and a new decade, it’s a chance for a new beginning. Put the past behind you and start this new year with your focus on God. He loves you, He is merciful and His compassion never fails. Our current circumstances may be overwhelming and our bodies may fail us but our soul will not be crushed as long as we have faith, hope and love. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and see that He is good.
Verse of the Day: Psalm 106:1
Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
I woke up this morning and if you’re reading this so did you, but not everyone did, so be thankful for another day of life. Praise God and give thanks to the Lord. He is deserving of all praise. No matter what is going on in your life there is always something to be thankful for. God’s love is forever and He is gracious, merciful and ready to forgive. God never gives up on us even when we don’t deserve another chance His mercies are new every morning. Life is a precious gift from God so as long as you have breath in your lungs give thanks to the Lord.
Verse of the Day: Psalm 51:1-2
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
There isn’t anything you can do to earn God’s forgiveness. You are forgiven because of who God is not who you are. You are forgiven because God is merciful, loving and compassionate towards His people. God sent His only Son to pay the price for your sins. You have been washed from your sins by the precious blood of the Lamb. Confess that you are a sinner who needs a Savior and believe that Jesus died to save you. You can let go of the guilt and shame of sin you’ve been carrying with you because God has forgiven you and wiped your slate clean and now it’s time for you to forgive yourself and live the life God has planned for you.
Verse of the Day: Psalm 31:14
But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.”
In the worst of times you can trust in God to be with you. You can trust that He is on the throne ready to protect and defend you. By faith, leave all your troubles at the feet of the Creator. He is your God and in Him you may trust no matter what trials befall you. Turn to God because He is merciful and He loves you more than anyone ever can.
Verse of the Day: 1 John 1:9
If we confess our sin, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Unconfessed sin can be a stumbling block that keeps you from getting closer to God. The Bible says, The Lord is far from the wicked but He hears the prayers of the righteous. (Proverbs 15:29) Even on your best days there may be sin in your life. When you pray, humbly come before the Lord and honestly confess your sins relying on His mercy and forgiveness through the righteousness of Christ. God is merciful and ready to forgive so don’t let unconfessed sin come between you and the Lord.
