Emmanuel

Verse of the Day:   Matthew 1:23

The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel which means “God with us”.

The prophecy by Isaiah, which was inspired by God, revealed the birth of Jesus by a virgin and that they would call Him Emmanuel, which means God with us. The Gospel of Matthew interprets this as the birth of the Messiah and the fulfillment of scripture in the birth of Jesus when the word that was made flesh and dwelt among us. This was all part of God’s divine plan for the salvation of man, and the restoration of fellowship between God and man because Jesus is the one and only Mediator between God and us. How wonderful to know that God loves us so much He sent His only Son to dwell with us and that He will always be with us even unto the end of the world.

To Seek and To Save

Verse of the Day:  Luke 19:10

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.

Because of the actions of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden sin entered the world and separated us from God. But God loved us so much He made a way for us to be saved. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to this world to seek and to save the lost, to offer us the free gift of salvation. He rescued us from a life of sin, from the guilt of sin and from the power of sin when He paid the ultimate price on Calvary. He did this so our relationship with God could be restored. So then, what shall we do to receive this gift? Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:28) As followers of Christ, it’s our duty to share this Good News with the world while there is still time.

How Great is Our God!

Psalm 145 8

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 145:8

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in mercy.

Where would we be if not for God’s grace, compassion, patience and mercy?  We serve a mighty God who can do anything and although we don’t deserve any of His compassion and goodness, He still loves us. He loves us so much and is so merciful that He sent His only Son to come into the world to redeem sinners by dying on the cross and paying the ultimate price for our sin. God loves us so much He made a way for us to be saved so we can spend eternity with Him. Proclaim with me the Lord’s greatness; let us praise His name together! (Psalm 34:3) How great is our God!

Share the Love

1 John 4 11

Verse of the Day:  1 John 4:11

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

God loves us so much He sent His only Son to save the world. If God loves us that much, shouldn’t we love each other too? We don’t deserve His love but He freely gives it to us anyway. Shouldn’t we try to be like Him and love one another? God’s love flows to us and it also needs to flow through us. God’s powerful love changes our heart so much that we should feel compelled to share it with others. Not only can we share the Word of God but we can share His love by practicing forgiveness, having compassion, giving from our heart, and serving. God’s love is meant to be shared so let your light shine everywhere you go.

Turn to God for Salvation

Isaiah 45 22

Verse of the Day:  Isaiah 45:22

Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

Turn to God and be saved.  You won’t find salvation in idols, in man, not even in yourself.  Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. (Acts 3:19) God loves you so much He made a way for you to be reconciled with Him when He sent His only Son, to die on the cross for your sins. Jesus is the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Him. (John 14:6) Jesus is the Savior for the lost, the light for those in the dark, the strength for the weak, the comforter for the discouraged and the healer for the sick. God is offering you salvation while there is still time.

God is Love

1 John 4 16

Verse of the Day:  1 John 4:16

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

God is love, is the first Bible verse I ever learned. I still remember the days when as a child I would walk to the front of our church, right up to the microphone set up for the children to recite Bible verses and proudly say, “God is love”. Let your first thoughts of the day be “God is love” and “God loves me”. When you come to really know and rely on these truths it will change the way you react to things that happen throughout your day. God loves you so much He sent His only Son to be your Savior. There is no greater love than the love God has for you. No matter what happens remind yourself that it’s going to be okay because God loves you. You can rely on God’s love for you and His strength will get you through the most difficult days if only you would trust in His unfailing love for you.

The Gift of Eternal Life

Romans 6 23 christmas

Verse of the Day: Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Spiritual death and separation from God is the price we pay for sin. Yet, because of God’s love for humanity He sent His only Son to pay the price and set us free. Eternal life is given to us by the grace of God through faith in Jesus, not by our own efforts or works so that no one will ever be able to boast that he earned or deserved eternal life, it is a free gift from God.

Grace, Compassion and Mercy

Hope of Eternal Life with God

Revelation 21 4

Verse of the Day:  Revelation 21:4

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

There is no denying that evil exists in this world.  Some may ask why God allows horrible events to happen.  The truth is we may never have the answer to this question.  What we do know is that God loves us so much He sent His only Son to offer salvation to all. Even though we may suffer in this world, as Christians, we have the hope of eternal life with God.
