10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 7: Thankful for God’s Blessings

2 Corinthians 9:11

Verse of the Day:   2 Corinthians 9:11

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

This year has been a difficult year for many people. So much has happened including the Covid-19 pandemic, mandatory lock-downs, loss of life, loss of jobs, schools and churches closed, fires across the west coast, hurricanes on the east coast and civil unrest across the county just to name a few. But, through it all God is still with us and I am thankful for all of His blessings. I am thankful we have a roof over our heads, food on our table, clothes on our back and the love of God in our hearts. I am grateful because we have been blessed and we have also been able to be a blessing to others, which has resulted in thanksgiving to God. Everyone needs a blessing, especially in these turbulent times, and I believe God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others. I encourage you to be a blessing to others in any way you can whenever you can.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 3: I’m Thankful for Another Day of Life

Psalm 106:1

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 106:1

Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

I woke up this morning and if you’re reading this so did you, but not everyone did, so be thankful for another day of life. Praise God and give thanks to the Lord. He is deserving of all praise. No matter what is going on in your life there is always something to be thankful for. Our praise should not depend on how we feel but on who God is. God’s love is forever and He is always good, gracious, merciful and ready to forgive. Start your day with praise because life is a precious gift from God and as long as you have breath in your lungs you ought to give thanks to the Lord.

A Cheerful Heart

Proverbs 17:22

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 17:22

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Feeling joy and being cheerful in ordinary things isn’t as hard as it seems. Granted, we are currently going through some of the most difficult times, but when we trust in God with all our heart we are able to keep our spirit from being crushed by the things going on in the world. To be cheerful, focus on the good things in your life and be grateful for what you have. God’s love and mercy give our hearts reason enough to be happy and knowing that our faith is built on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ allows us to be secure no matter what is happening around us. Remember, it’s not happy people who are thankful, it’s thankful people who are happy so let us give thanks to the Lord for in His presence is fullness of joy.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 8:  Thankful for Praise and Worship Music

Psalm 95 2

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 95:2

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

Today I am incredibly thankful for praise and worship music. Being able to praise and worship God through song is so uplifting and inspiring. No matter what is going on in my life at that moment whether it’s good, bad or indifferent it all just seem to melt away instantly as I begin to focus on God. It doesn’t just have to be at church. It might be at home or in the car. Sometimes I’ll be driving, feeling some type of way and the perfect song comes on the radio and it reminds me that God is always with me. When I sing along I feel connected to my Savior and am so grateful for His love and mercy and thankful for His presence in my life.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 7:  Thankful for God’s Blessings

2 Corinthians 9 11 b.jpg

Verse of the Day:  2 Corinthians 9:11

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

I am thankful for all of God’s blessings. This year was a tough year for our family. My husband was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer. By the grace of God, he is now cancer free, but there were times we didn’t know how we were going to pay the bills or put food on the table. When we couldn’t see a way, God made a way. He touched the hearts of many to help us along the way and for that we are forever grateful. Our faith was made stronger with each and every act of generosity. If we trust in God, He will always provide for us and He even makes a way for us to be a blessing to others. God blesses us so we can generously pour out our blessings to others, which results in thanksgiving to God.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 4:  Thankful for the Love of Family and Friends

2 Thessalonians 1 3

Verse of the Day: 2 Thessalonians 1:3

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.

I am thankful for the love of family and friends.  I’m grateful to have such wonderful people as part of my journey. Each person God has put in my life adds something unique and special to it and I love and appreciate them all. I’m thankful for the love we share between us, for the experiences we go through together and for the memories that will be in my heart forever. I’m thankful that in my time of need I have family and friends I can count on. As I thank God for them, I pray that He would continue to bless and protect them always.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 1: Thankful for All of God’s Wonderful Deeds

Psalm 9 1

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 9:1

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

Thanksgiving Day is quickly approaching and I thought it would be nice to share some of the things I am thankful for.  This year our family went through the one of the hardest seasons we’ve had to go through together. In July, my husband was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer. Because of God’s great mercy, the cancer was found early enough for the tumor to be removed. He recovered from the surgery and did not have to have chemo therapy. For that alone, we are so grateful to God for his healing. But the story doesn’t end there. My husband is the sole supporter for our family and with him being unable to work during the recovery process we came very close to losing everything we have. But God made a way where there was no way. The Lord put it in the heart of many to help us along the way. Every time I thought we were at the end of the road the Lord opened up a new door. I was repeatedly reminded of God’s goodness as He kept showing us time after time that if we trust in Him, He will make a way. Through it all, my faith has been made stronger and I am so thankful for my relationship with the Lord and for His amazing grace. My heart is filled with gratitude for all the things He has done for us. He has renewed my spirit and because of this I am so thankful and like David, I want to share His wonderful deeds and goodness with the world.

Sing During Prayer

Psalm 100 2.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 100:2

Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

God is good and giving Him grateful praise through songs is a beautiful way to worship Him during your prayer time. When you come before the Lord singing joyful songs not only does it please God but it also refreshes your soul.  It doesn’t matter how well you sing; what matters is that it comes from your heart.

Celebrate Freedom!

2 Corinthians 3 17.jpg

Verse of the Day:  2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

As a nation, we are grateful for the freedom we have in this country and for many it’s a tradition to celebrate that freedom.  As believers in Jesus Christ, we have been set free from sin and when God is present in our lives we are free to believe, trust and love the Lord with all our heart so we can enjoy this life He has given us. Celebrate the true freedom that comes from knowing and having a relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ!

Forgiveness

Psalm 86 5.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 86:5

You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.

I’m so grateful we serve a forgiving God.  If not for his forgiveness, grace and mercy where would we be?  He loved us so much he sent his only Son to die on the cross to pay for our sins so we could receive forgiveness. He is ready to forgive, he won’t hold back, all we have to do is come to him with a sincere heart and ask to be forgiven through faith.
