Love and Obedience

John 14:23

Verse of the Day:  John 14:23

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”

If you really love Jesus, obey His teachings and His commands. Saying you love Him is easy, anyone can say they love Jesus, proving you do is another matter. When you understand and appreciate what Jesus did for you at the cross it changes you, you’re no longer the same. Having a real relationship with your Lord and Savior becomes a lifestyle not just a Sunday event. True love and gratitude responds in obedience, dedication and with passion. Open your heart to God and invite Him into every part of your life and into everything you do.

Love and Good Deeds

Hebrews 10 24 3

Verse of the Day:  Hebrews 10:24

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

We are all going through a lot right now. Let your love for God and your gratitude for His mercy and goodness inspire you to share His love and with others. Let’s motivate each other and encourage acts of love and service for those in need so that our heavenly Father may be glorified. We need to do something, help somebody, tell someone about Jesus, if not us then who will?

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 1: Thankful for All of God’s Wonderful Deeds

Psalm 9 1

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 9:1

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

Thanksgiving Day is quickly approaching and I thought it would be nice to share some of the things I am thankful for.  This year our family went through the one of the hardest seasons we’ve had to go through together. In July, my husband was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer. Because of God’s great mercy, the cancer was found early enough for the tumor to be removed. He recovered from the surgery and did not have to have chemo therapy. For that alone, we are so grateful to God for his healing. But the story doesn’t end there. My husband is the sole supporter for our family and with him being unable to work during the recovery process we came very close to losing everything we have. But God made a way where there was no way. The Lord put it in the heart of many to help us along the way. Every time I thought we were at the end of the road the Lord opened up a new door. I was repeatedly reminded of God’s goodness as He kept showing us time after time that if we trust in Him, He will make a way. Through it all, my faith has been made stronger and I am so thankful for my relationship with the Lord and for His amazing grace. My heart is filled with gratitude for all the things He has done for us. He has renewed my spirit and because of this I am so thankful and like David, I want to share His wonderful deeds and goodness with the world.

Avoid Negativity

1 peter 3 10

Verse of the Day:  1 Peter 3:10

Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

Embrace life, be kind, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. Keep your tongue from speaking foul, obscene or unwholesome words. Don’t lie or say hurtful things to anyone. Instead, speak blessings, be a blessing and you will receive a blessing. A forgiven heart is a changed heart, filled with gratitude and love. Avoid negativity by speaking positivity into your life.

Helping God’s People

Hebrews 6 10

Verse of the Day:  Hebrews 6:10

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

The Lord blesses you so that you can be a blessing to others.  Whether you give monetarily, provide goods and services or donate your time He sees all that you do and never forgets the work you do or the love you show by helping His people and when you get to heaven you will receive your eternal reward.

Joy

Proverbs 17 22

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 17:22

A joyful heart is good medicine.

Feeling joy in ordinary things isn’t as hard as it seems.  To find joy in your life focus on the good and be grateful for what you have. It’s not happy people who are thankful, it’s thankful people who are happy.   Give thanks to the Lord for in his presence is fullness of joy.
