Gifts from Above

Verse of the Day:  James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Every good thing we have in our lives and all our blessing are gifts from our heavenly Father. The devil tries to remind us of the hard times we’ve gone through, the illnesses, the losses and every trial we’ve ever faced just so we’ll forget about all the good things God has done for us. But do not be deceived for God is good all the time. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the source of every good thing! Instead of counting your troubles, make a list of all the good things in your life and make time to thank your heavenly Father for all your blessings!

Be Kind to Everyone

Verse of the Day:  Luke 6:35

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.  Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

God commands us to love our enemies and do good to them. For some, these lessons may be harder than others, but if we are grounded in God’s love and mercy, we can move past our human nature and into the spiritual characteristics of Christ. Our heavenly Father has shown us great love and mercy and expects us to be kind even to those who are ungrateful and wicked, not because they deserve it, but because we are striving to live a life that pleases God.

My Comforter

Isaiah 49 13

Verse of the Day:  Isaiah 49:13

Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.

The world attempts to comfort you and keep you content but the only place to find real peace, comfort and compassion is in the Lord. Shout for joy and rejoice because God loves and cares for His people. Pour out your heart in prayer, for the Lord will never forsake you. He will have compassion on you and His unfailing love will comfort you and give you peace. Though we may suffer, our heavenly Father is always there for us with open arms ready to wipe away our tears.

You Are Royalty

1 Peter 2 9

Verse of the Day: 1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of his who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

You have been chosen by God to be royalty. You may not have been born on this earth as royalty but because you were chosen and belong to our heavenly Father, you are the daughter of the King and not just any king, the King of all the heavens and earth! You are God’s special possession and of great worth. Praise God for His love, for choosing to have a special relationship with you and for calling you out of the darkness and into His wonderful light.

Trust God

Psalm 31 14

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 31:14

But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.”

In the best of times and in the worst of times you can trust in the Lord your God to be with you. By faith, you can leave all your troubles at the feet of your heavenly Father. Believe and know in your heart that He is on His mighty throne ready to protect you, to defend you and to help you in your current situation. He is the one and only true living God and in Him you can depend on whenever trials befall you. Man may fail you but God never will. Turn to Him, cling to Him because He is merciful and because He loves you more than anyone else ever can or ever will.

Lift Up Your Hands in Praise

Psalm 63 4

Verse of the Day: Psalm 63:4

I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

Praise God for who He is and thank Him for all His wonderful characteristics and what they mean to you personally. God is good, holy, forgiving, loving, merciful, faithful, full of grace and so much more. Even on your darkest day God is still worthy of all praise. Joyfully lift your hands toward your heavenly Father in heaven to praise Him and give Him all the honor and glory. The Lord is great and greatly to be praised! As long as you have breath in your lungs, praise God!

Restoration

1 Peter 5 10

Verse of the Day:  1 Peter 5:10

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

At the beginning of this year many of us were in a good place and we were looking forward to seeing what the new year had in store for us. Little did we know that this would be one of the hardest times since the Great Depression. Many have lost their jobs, their homes and people they love. Some are struggling emotionally, physically and financially just to make it to tomorrow. We have had to trust in the Lord like never before. But praise God, we serve the God of restoration! By His grace, we have been called to be His children and we have hope for a future because our heavenly Father always has a plan to heal and restore His people.

Good Gifts from Your Heavenly Father

Matthew 7 11

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 7:11

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. (NLT)

Doesn’t it make you feel happy when you give your children the gifts that they’ve asked for? The look on their faces when they open the perfect gift is priceless. Now, think about how much more your heavenly Father also wants to give you good gifts from the riches of His glory. God loves you and it makes Him happy to bless you with the desires of your heart when you delight yourself in Him. God already knows what you need before you ask but He still wants you to ask and if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer according to His will.

Christmas is For-giving

Matthew 6 14-15

Verse of the Day:        Matthew 6:14-15

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

We have all made mistakes, none of us are perfect. There are times we need to ask for forgiveness and there are times we need to forgive. How can we come to God asking for forgiveness when we ourselves have not forgiven? I know there are some things that seem unforgivable but when we hold on to blame and unforgiveness it creates an environment of bitterness in our own heart. Life is short and we don’t know what tomorrow holds. Trust in God and let go of the anger and give the gift of forgiveness not only to the offender but to yourself as well.

Pray for All People

1 Timothy 2 1

Verse of the Day:  1 Timothy 2:1

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people

Take time to pray for your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Pray for your pastor and your church. Pray for our leaders and people in authority and while you’re at it, pray for your enemies as well. Pray that God would protect them and keep them from any evil the enemy has planned. Pray for God to bless and provide for them knowing that all good things come our Heavenly Father. Humbly come before the Lord with your specific prayers asking God for His will to be done as you intercede for others. Whether your prayers our general or specific, thank God for hearing your prayer, for His love and mercy for all people. We don’t always know what people are going through but one thing is for sure, they can always use our prayers and not one prayer is ever wasted.
