Courage to Follow Jesus

Philippians 1 20

Verse of the Day:  Philippians 1:20

I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

Because of God’s grace we do not have to be ashamed of any suffering we may encounter for Christ.  We must have the courage to follow Jesus and declare Him to be the Son of God, the Messiah and the Lord of our lives. (Romans 10:9) Having courage also means being obedient to His teachings. (John 8:31) Be courageous and determined to always do your very best to obey the call of God in all circumstances.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

This Christmas carol describes how the news of Jesus’ birth might have swept across the land. From the lamb to the shepherd boy all the way to the king and everyone in between the story of the birth of the Savior, the light of the world, is being shared.  Today, we also have the same commission and more. We’re to share not only the news of the birth of Jesus Christ but also His teachings, His death, His resurrection and His second coming.
