10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 1: Thankful for All of God’s Wonderful Deeds

Psalm 9:1

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 9:1

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

Thanksgiving Day is quickly approaching and I thought it would be nice to share some of the things I am thankful for. The Lord has been so, so good to me. I am thankful for everything the Lord has done for me and like King David, I want to share His wonderful deeds and goodness with the world. I am grateful for another day of life, for my salvation and for God’s love, grace and mercy. Without them where would I be? The Lord rescued me from a life of sin and although I am not perfect, I am not who I used to be. He has broken the chains that bound me and set me free. I have a roof over my head, food on the table and clothes on my back. The Lord provides for all my needs and so much more. I have an amazing husband who loves the Lord, loves me and loves our family.  I am blessed beyond measure!

To Seek and To Save

Verse of the Day:  Luke 19:10

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.

Because of the actions of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden sin entered the world and separated us from God. But God loved us so much He made a way for us to be saved. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to this world to seek and to save the lost, to offer us the free gift of salvation. He rescued us from a life of sin, from the guilt of sin and from the power of sin when He paid the ultimate price on Calvary. He did this so our relationship with God could be restored. So then, what shall we do to receive this gift? Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:28) As followers of Christ, it’s our duty to share this Good News with the world while there is still time.

Set Free

Galatians 5 1.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Galatians 5:1

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

As a child of God we have been freed from a life of sin and because Jesus died on the cross for us we are freed from the chains that bind us. There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain that tries to restrain us and keep us in a life of sin. If you are born again you are a new creation with a new way of thinking. You have been given a second chance to be who God created you to be.  Don’t go back to whatever sin God has already freed you from. Stand firm in your faith and be victorious!

Freedom

2 Corinthians 3 17.jpg

Verse of the Day:  2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

As a nation we ought to be grateful for the freedom we have in this country and for many of us it’s our tradition to celebrate that freedom.  As a child of God we have an even greater freedom because God is present in our lives and we are freed from the chains that bind us. There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain that tries to restrain us and keep us in a life of sin. There is true freedom from knowing and having a relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ!
