Love the Lord Your God

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 22:37

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

I was feeling a little discouraged, tired and disheartened so I began to search for a Bible verse to help me feel better. The Lord gave me this verse and instantly I felt inspired. I remembered that it’s not about focusing on me, it’s about focusing on God. The best thing we can do in all situations is to love the Lord with all our hearts, soul and mind and He will take care of the rest.

Lord, thank you for always being there when I need you. You are such a good father to me and I praise your holy name. Help me to remember that when I’m feeling overwhelmed I can turn to you for peace and comfort. I trust in you, Lord, to get me through difficult times. I will do my best to keep my eyes focused on you and to love you with all my heart, soul and mind in every situation. Amen

New Beginnings

Verse of the Day:  Lamentations 3:22-23

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Today is finally the last day of 2020. Tomorrow is the first day of the new year, it’s a chance for a new beginning. Put the past behind you and start this new year with your focus on God. He loves you, He is merciful and His compassion never fails. Our current circumstances may be overwhelming and our bodies may fail us but our soul will not be crushed as long as we have faith, hope and love. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and see that He is good. I pray that the new year will bring you closer to God than ever before. May the LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Intercession by the Holy Spirit

Romans 8:26

Verse of the Day:  Romans 8:26

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Even on our best days we may struggle to find the words to pray. We may lack the wisdom to know exactly what we need but the Holy Spirit is there to help us. And on our worse days, we may come before God feeling defeated and overwhelmed to the point where words cannot convey what we want or need to say. Tears may stream down our face as we humbly come before the almighty God. It’s okay if we don’t have the right words or any words at all. The Holy Spirit searches our heart, will intercede for us and help us by interpreting what is in our heart. The Holy Spirit that lives in us also helps us to remember God’s promises, reminds us of God’s love, acts as a comforter in our suffering and gives us strength. Let the Holy Spirit work in you, lead you and guide you through prayer and in life.

God is Omnipotent

Jeremiah 32 17

Verse of the Day:  Jeremiah 32:17

Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

God is all powerful and there is nothing too hard for Him. When you feel overwhelmed by your circumstances remember that you serve a mighty God who created the heavens and the earth and has infinite power to do anything. Be encouraged and let your faith be strengthened by knowing that for God, nothing is impossible.  Nothing is beyond His power and there is nothing that His power cannot do.

Straighten Your Crown

Hebrews 4 16

Verse of the Day:  Hebrews 4:16

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

We all have days when we wake up feeling like we just can’t face another day. Don’t let that overwhelming feeling discourage you. Take a deep breath, remind yourself that you are a daughter of the King and straighten your crown. Come boldly to the throne of God to lay your burdens at His feet and receive His mercy and grace for today. God is with you, God is for you and God loves you.

Gethsemane

Matthew 26 36-46

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 26:36-46

Gethsemane

36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” 40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” 43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. 45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

Lead Me to the Rock

Psalm 61 2 2

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 61:2

From the end of the earth will I cry to thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

There are times when we may feel far from God, when we feel alone, when our heart feels sad, troubled or overwhelmed. It doesn’t matter how far away you’ve gone God is always there for you. He is in control and you can always turn to Him. You’re never so far from God that your prayers won’t reach Him. His love, grace and mercy reach to the farthest corners of the earth. Cry out to the Lord for His help and ask Him to strengthen your faith, for He alone is your rock and your salvation.
