Joyful – Patient – Faithful

Verse of the Day:  Romans 12:12

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

The Christian life is not always easy. Jesus said we will have troubles but we can have peace because He overcame the world (John 16:33). We can be joyful in the hope we have in Jesus Christ because we have received the gift of salvation and the hope of being with the Lord forever in heaven. We can be patient during troubled times because we know our faith is being made stronger while we rely fully on God for healing, comfort, provisions and peace. Be faithful in your prayer life regardless of what is happening in the world and especially in times of tribulation. Don’t be discouraged by what is happening around you instead take every concern, every fear and every doubt straight to the throne of God.

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Your only Son to overcome the world and sin. Thank You for the joy and the hope that comes from knowing You. Help me to be patient in troubling times as I put my trust in You because I know You are working everything out for my good. Lord, I bring every concern, every fear and every doubt and lay them at Your feet. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Walk in Love

Ephesians 5:2

Verse of the Day:  Ephesians 5:2

And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Walk in love by following the example of Jesus Christ. He loved us so much He gave all He had so we could be saved. Be imitators of Christ and let everything you do come from a place of love. To walk in love is not just to talk about it, but to actually apply it to our daily life by not letting our circumstances dictate our attitude. We can choose how we respond to situations in life and although we can never love as much as God loves us we can try our best to be patient and selfless. We can be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32) We can also give our time and be of service to others for the glory of God. As we walk through our days in love, may our continued praises and thanksgiving be an offering and a sweet aroma to the Lord.

Biblical Meekness is Not Weakness

Matthew 5:5

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 5:5

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth

The world considers meekness to be a weakness. When they hear the word meek they automatically think of someone who is shy and won’t stand up for themselves. They might even imagine a person who allows people to walk all over them and allows people to treat them badly. As a human characteristic meekness is seen as negative trait. However, meekness is a fruit of the Spirit and is an attribute of God. Jesus was the perfect example of meekness. He had every right and the power to take Himself off the cross but He chose to submit to God’s will for the greater good. The kind of meekness the Bible talks about isn’t being weak, it’s the opposite, it’s being so strong that you are in control of your emotions and actions. The Biblical characteristic of meekness is described as being submissive to God, obedient, righteous, teachable, patient, humble, and peaceful even in the face of adversity. Do not let the world confuse you. Biblical meekness is not a weakness and God blesses the meek and promises that they will inherit the earth and enjoy peace and prosperity.

Godly Wisdom

James 3:17

Verse of the Day:  James 3:17

Wisdom that comes from heaven is pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

There is a difference between people who have Godly wisdom and people who are wise in their own eyes. Godly wisdom comes from the Lord and it gives us the desire to live a life that is obedient and respectful to God and His holiness no matter what trials we face. It helps us to see the best in people, to be patient and to forgive others and it also help us to step back in the interest of peace when appropriate. It allows us to be open to receiving good advice and godly counsel. It compels us to be merciful and compassionate toward all people leading us to do the good works God has already planned for us with a sincere and impartial heart. How do we get this wisdom? God reveals it through the Holy Spirit and through His Word to every believer in Christ who asks in faith.

Love Requires Action

1 John 3 18

Verse of the Day: 1 John 3:18

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

When it comes to marriage let’s not just talk about love, let’s show our love with actions. Throughout the Bible God shows us that love is an action not just a word. Two of the greatest acts of love in the Bible are when God gave His only Son and Jesus laid down His own life for us. We can never out love God but we can do our best to show the love God shows us to our husband or wife. God is our example by being caring, compassionate, forgiving, merciful, patient, faithful and so much more. Let’s not love with words but with action.
