Keep God First

Verse of the Day:   Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

This is the time of year when we start thinking about our New Year’s resolutions. We decide to make changes and declare goals that will help to improve our lives. The year 2020 did not go as planned for almost everyone. So much has happened this year, so many lives lost, so much pain and suffering. Yet, if we believe in God, we have hope for a better year in 2021. The Bible tells us that that if we seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, He will take care of all our needs. Your main focus for 2021 should be to have a closer relationship with the Lord, studying His Word and living according to His will. Set your mind on things above and let your thoughts and goals be focused on Christ and your future home, heaven. As you contemplate your New Year’s resolutions be mindful to include goals that allow you to put God first in your life. Set goals that bring you closer to God daily and long-term. You can reach your goals when you make specific plans and stick to them.

Finding the Good

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 11:27

Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.

Putting God first in everything you do and seeking the kingdom of God leads to a life of favor. Pursuing what is good and doing good for others will put you in a position of favor from both God and people. When you look for trouble, trouble will find you. When you try to hurt others, it will surely come back to you. If you’re always looking for the negative that’s exactly what you’ll find. Instead, live a positive and optimistic life by trying to find the good in all people and making the best of things in all situations.

True Beauty

Proverbs 31 30 2

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 31:30

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Outer beauty is only skin deep and won’t last forever. The world wants you to think that your outer beauty is the most important thing and as women, we should chase after it. But no matter what you do to the outside it will never be enough, it will never make you truly happy and it will never please the Lord. A truly beautiful woman has the fear of the Lord in her heart which is also the beginning of wisdom. She puts God first and puts her relationship with Him above all else. Her character is rooted in the ways of the Lord. She knows that the way God sees her is more important than how the world sees her and she finds favor in His eyes.

Finding the Good

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 11:27

Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.

Putting God first in everything you do leads to a life of favor. Pursuing what is good and doing good for others will put you in a position of favor from both God and people. Live a positive and optimistic life by trying to find the good in all people and in all situations. Appreciate what you have and stop comparing yourself to other people. If you’re always looking for the negative that’s exactly what you’ll find.

God is Within You

psalm 46 5

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 46:5

God is within her, she will not fall

When God is in your heart and soul you can face anything that comes your way. Put your hope and trust in God and His mighty power to uphold you. God is a present help and you can turn to Him in all circumstances. You can turn to Him in times of trouble and let His grace and mercy lift you up. God is with you and will help you when you put Him first in your life. Have confidence that He is always within you.

Keep God First

Colossians 3 2.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Colossians 3:2

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

This is the time of year when we start thinking about New Year’s resolutions.  We decide to make changes and declare goals that will improve our lives.  The Bible tells us we should set our minds on things above and that our thoughts and goals should be focused on Christ and our future home, heaven.  As we contemplate our New Year’s resolutions let’s be mindful to include goals that allow us to put God first in our lives.

Teaching by Example

Psalm 34 11

Verse of the Day: Psalm 34:11

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

The best gift we can give our children is to teach them to obey and follow the Lord which leads to wisdom, prosperity and a happy life. Teaching children to fear the Lord doesn’t mean they should be afraid of Him, it means they should respect Him and put Him first in their lives. Fear of the Lord requires awe, reverence, adoration, honor, worship, faith, trust, thankfulness and love.  We teach these to our children not just by word but by example. Share Jesus, the greatest gift of all, with your children.

Put God First

Colossians 1 17.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Colossians 1:17

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

If you feeling like things are falling apart put God first in your life.  Everything else will fall into place and will be held together by His power.

Earnestly Seek God

Psalm 63 1.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 63:1

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

If you want to have a closer relationship with God you must seek him with a sincere heart, soul, body, and mind.  You must want it more than anything else. You need to put God first and make time to spend with him and when you do you will find him.
