Seek the Lord

Verse of the Day:   Jeremiah 29:13

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

A new year is the perfect time to start over. It’s a time of new beginnings, second, third, even ninety-ninth chances. It’s okay to start over, we serve a God of new beginnings. None of us are perfect but as long as you don’t completely give up, God will work with what you have right where you are. When you seek the Lord with a sincere heart you will find Him. God hears your prayers and knows your heart. God promises that if you humble yourself, pray, seek His face and turn from your sinful ways He will hear you. Make God a priority in the coming year by making time to read His Word and spending time with Him in prayer. God loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you but it’s up to you to seek Him.

The Bible is Alive and Active

Hebrews 4 12

Verse of the Day:  Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The Bible, which is the Word of God, isn’t some old irrelevant book of stories. It is alive and active today and forever. If you begin to read God’s Word daily, I promise, it will start to change your life. Ask God to reveal His Word to you. You’ll see how much He really loves you, His promises and His will for your life. Whatever you are going through the answer is found in God’s Word because it contains infinite wisdom from the Lord. Use it to guide you through life, to convict you when you need correction and to nourish your soul every day.

Experience God for Yourself

Psalm 34 8

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 34:8

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

I am personally inviting you to experience the infinite goodness of the Lord. He is perfect in every way, the author of all good things, everything about Him is good and He loves you. Turn to Him, put your hope in Him and put your trust in Him alone. He is the only one that can fill your heart with peace. You will never know what it’s like to have a relationship with the Lord until you make an effort by faith to really seek and experience Him for yourself. A good place to start is by praying and reading the Word of God daily.

Keep Serving the Lord

Romans 12 11

Verse of the Day: Romans 12:11

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

This year has been difficult to say the least. We’ve had a lot to deal with including the coronavirus, being quarantined, loss of jobs, natural disasters and civil unrest. Our schools closed, work places closed, stores closed, even churches closed. Through it all, God is still with us. Don’t let your spiritual relationship become lukewarm. Don’t let the troubles of this world come between you and God. All these things are temporary and this is not our eternal home. Keep serving the Lord, keep reading the Word of God, keep praying, keep singing, keep praising and worshiping, keep your soul on fire for God!

Read During Prayer

2 Timothy 3 16

Verse of the Day: 2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

Reading the Bible as part of your prayer can lead to enlightenment.  The Book of Psalms is a great place to start reading scriptures that turn into prayers. They’re full of wonderful praise and thanksgiving to God. Before you begin to read the Bible ask God to open your eyes and make clear what He is trying to show you. If you’re looking for a specific topic you want to address in prayer you can use a Bible concordance or look up verses on the internet. Once you find the Bible verse you want to focus on, read it, meditate on it, think about what it really means to you, then pray about it. God speaks to you in many ways including His written Word. He may open your eyes to something new when a passage you’ve read before suddenly becomes clear and impacts you like never before. Remember, when we pray, we talk to God; when we read the Bible, God speaks to us.

Seek the Lord

Deuteronomy 4 29

Verse of the Day:  Deuteronomy 4:29

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

God isn’t far from you, He’s always with you, you need only to seek Him with all of your heart and soul. He wants to have a relationship with you but even though He could, He’s not going to force you to have a relationship with Him because He wants you to choose to love Him. The most important thing you can ever do isn’t found in the busyness of your life, it is found in the quiet times seeking God. Seek Him with a sincere heart, pray, read the Bible and turn from sin. God loves you and He is merciful, if you give your heart to Him and make Him a priority in your life you’ll see for yourself how good your heavenly Father is.

Hearing from God

Romans 10 17

Verse of the Day:  Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We know God can speak to you and grow your faith through His Word when you read the Bible, when you hear a sermon and when you pray. But did you know He can also speak to you through other believers, through music, nature, even social media? We cannot confine or limit the ways in which God can speak to us. Have you ever been going through a rough time and you get into the car and at just the right moment a song comes on the radio that gives you the encouragement you needed? That’s God. Maybe a friend sent you an encouraging text or a Bible verse that you needed to be reminded of, that’s God. God is able to speak to you in many ways if you would only surround yourself with the things of God and put yourself in a position to be receptive to His voice.

Knowing and Trusting God

Psalm 9 10.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 9:10

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

The only way to know God is to seek Him with all of your heart.  Spend time with Him in prayer, read the Holy Bible and really make an effort to understand who He is. The more you seek God in faith, the more you will come to know Him. You will know His true nature, power, wisdom, faithfulness and goodness. When you experience God’s love, grace and mercy for yourself you will come to completely trust in Him and realize that He is always there for you.

Understanding God’s Word

Psalm 119 130 2

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 119:130

The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

If you read the Holy Bible in faith, studying the truth, asking God to give you understanding of what was, what is and what is to come – the Lord, by his grace, will enlighten your mind and soul. He will help you understand the scriptures, His plan for salvation and He will give you spiritual peace and comfort. God’s word gives understanding to all who earnestly seek Him and are willing to learn.
