#Relationship Goals

1 John 5 20

Verse of the Day:  1 John 5:20

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

Do you know about Jesus or do you really know Him on a personal level? Just knowing who He is, is not enough. Our goal in life should be to really get to know Christ by having a deep and personal relationship with Him for through Him we belong to God. What a privilege it is to have been given the knowledge of Christ our Lord and Savior and to believe and trust in the true God who came to give us eternal life.

Grow

2 Peter 3 18

Verse of the Day:  2 Peter 3:18

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

Christianity is long-term, it’s for all eternity and like every living thing it’s a growing process. We start off as babes and grow to full maturity, we develop as we grow. Growing doesn’t mean we never fail because we will never be perfect in this world. But, we do start to see our sin and the Holy Spirit’s convictions help us to repent from them. God will continue to work on you until the day Jesus comes for His church. We must do our part too, we can’t just stay where we are today we must continue working at it so that we may grow our knowledge of God, our relationship with God and our faith in God.

Love and Obedience

John 14 23

Verse of the Day: John 14:23

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”

If you really love Jesus, you will obey His teachings and His commands. Saying you love Him is easy, anyone can say they love Jesus, proving you do is another matter. When you understand and appreciate what Jesus did for you at the cross it changes you, you’re no longer the same. Having a real relationship with your Lord and Savior becomes a lifestyle not just a Sunday event. True love and gratitude responds in obedience, dedication and with passion. Open up your heart to God and invite Him in to every part of your life and into everything you do.

Worship in Spirit and in Truth

John 4 23

Verse of the Day:  John 4:23

But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.

God is looking for people who will worship Him with all of their heart and soul. He doesn’t want people who are just going through the motions or performing ceremonies. That’s not all He wants, your worship must also be in truth.  In order to worship the truth, we must know the truth which is found in God’s Word. Truth comes from the certainty in knowing who God is and by having a personal relationship with Him. The more you know who God is the more genuine your worship becomes. As #knowingyou begin to worship God in spirit and in truth you will be transformed by His grace because worship changes everything!

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 9:  Thankful for Everything

1 11-22 1 Ephesians 5 20.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Ephesians 5:20

always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am truly thankful for everything God has done for me and the plans He has for my future.  I am thankful for everything He has blessed me with, it’s more than I deserve. I’m thankful for my salvation and for the relationship I have with my Savior.  Above all else, I’m thankful for God’s love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness. I give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 6: Thankful for Spiritual Freedom

1 11-19 1 Psalms 100 4

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 100:4

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

I am thankful for the freedom to be able to enter into the house of the Lord to praise and worship my Lord and Savior.  Yes, we have a constitutionally protected right to religious freedom and that’s great, but I’m talking about the spiritual freedom we received when Jesus died on the cross and paid the price for our sins.  I’m talking about abiding in God’s truth which has set us free from a life of sin and death.  Because of God’s love and mercy, we can have a relationship with Him, we can come into His presence to praise and worship Him and for that I am thankful.

Change Begins with Ourselves

1 11-8 1

Verse of the Day:   2 Chronicles 7:14

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sins and restore their land.

The lack of morality and having no relationship with God is what’s wrong with our society today.  How do we fix it? We humble ourselves, pray, seek God, and turn from our wicked ways.  If we do these things God will hear us, forgive us, and heal our land. To change the world, we must first change ourselves.

Know Your Worth

1 9-26 1

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 31:10

A wife of noble character who can find?  She is worth far more than rubies.

Your worth is found on the inside not on the outside.  Your character is worth more than fleeting beauty.  Nobel characteristics like honesty, generosity, and courage are more important than your dress size, bank account, or looks.  Your worth is found in God and your relationship with him, not in the opinions of others.  Jesus paid the ultimate price for you because you are worth far more than rubies.

Experience God for Yourself

1 9-2 1

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 34:8

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

I urge you to experience the infinite goodness of the Lord.  He is perfect in every way, the author of all good things, everything about him is good and he loves you.  Turn to him, put your hope in him, and put your trust in him alone.  He is the only one that can fill your heart with peace.  You will never know what it’s like to have a relationship with the Lord until you make an effort to really experience Him for yourself through prayer and reading the Word of God.

#RelationshipGoals

1 john 17 3

Verse of the Day:  John 17:3

And this is eternal life that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Do you know the Lord? Knowing who he is, is not enough.  Our goal in life should be to know Christ by having a deep and personal relationship with Him.  We need to make this our priority if we want to spend eternity in the presence of the Lord.
