Godly Wisdom

James 3:17

Verse of the Day:  James 3:17

Wisdom that comes from heaven is pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

There is a difference between people who have Godly wisdom and people who are wise in their own eyes. Godly wisdom comes from the Lord and it gives us the desire to live a life that is obedient and respectful to God and His holiness no matter what trials we face. It helps us to see the best in people, to be patient and to forgive others and it also help us to step back in the interest of peace when appropriate. It allows us to be open to receiving good advice and godly counsel. It compels us to be merciful and compassionate toward all people leading us to do the good works God has already planned for us with a sincere and impartial heart. How do we get this wisdom? God reveals it through the Holy Spirit and through His Word to every believer in Christ who asks in faith.

Gentle and Humble

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 11:29

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

If you’re feeling burdened, troubled, angry, out of control or your life is in turmoil turn to Jesus, He is the answer. Jesus is inviting you to take His yoke. In other words, humbly surrender to God’s will, be obedient to His Word and let Him guide and direct your life. Jesus was a great example of what it is to be gentle and humble. Gentleness = kindness, mild in temperament; Humbleness = respectful, showing a modest estimate of one’s own importance. Follow the example of Jesus Christ, learn from Him and you will find rest for your soul.

What Does the Lord Require?

Micah 6 8

Verse of the Day:  Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

What does the Lord require? Obedience to His Word by faith. Treat others fairly and equally, oppressing no one. Behave in a morally righteous way, not self-righteous, but in accord with God’s laws and virtues. Be kind, merciful, compassionate and forgiving even to those who don’t deserve it. Be respectful, gentle and live modestly, not thinking too highly of yourself. Submit to God’s will and acknowledge Him in every part of your life, not just on Sunday but, walk with Him in every moment of every day. We all fall short sometimes, but God’s grace is bigger than our sins.

Happy Mother’s Day

Exodus 20 12.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Exodus 20:12

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

If you are blessed to have your mother in your life, honor her as the Lord commands.  Be devoted and respectful, affectionate and loving for she won’t always be here.  If there are grievances between you, ask God to help you forgive each other.  If you are blessed to be a mother, pray that you would be a good example for your children and that they would honor you in the same way you have honored your own mother.

Your Behavior

1 10-25 1

Verse of the Day:   Micah 6:8

What does the Lord require of you?  To do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

This is what God wants, for you to treat others fairly, behaving morally righteous, showing compassion and forgiveness even to those who don’t deserve it.  Be respectful, gentle, and live modestly, not thinking too highly of yourself.  You don’t always have to behave the way you feel, but you should always behave in a way that pleases God.
