Compassion for the Impoverished

Matthew 9 36

Verse of the Day:  Matthew 9:36

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Jesus was not only concerned for the souls of the multitudes who followed Him, but also for their physical needs. We are called to be Christlike – gentle, caring and compassionate. There is a homeless epidemic in this country, many people are living in poverty and people are going hungry every day. The Coronavirus pandemic is making a complex problem even worse with many people losing their jobs, their homes and ultimately their lives. Everywhere you look there are people who desperately need help and more importantly, they need Jesus. People are hurting and it’s up to us as Christians to find a way to do what we can to help them by sharing the love and compassion of God and to bring souls to the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. If not us, then who?

Love and Good Deeds

Hebrews 10 24 3

Verse of the Day:  Hebrews 10:24

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

We are all going through a lot right now. Let your love for God and your gratitude for His mercy and goodness inspire you to share His love and with others. Let’s motivate each other and encourage acts of love and service for those in need so that our heavenly Father may be glorified. We need to do something, help somebody, tell someone about Jesus, if not us then who will?

Serve One Another

Mark 10 45

Verse of the Day:  Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Jesus was born a King, but by His example on how to live, He teaches us to be humble. The Bible says that Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. As ambassadors of Christ our lives should exemplify His characteristics and should reflect Christ in us. Let’s follow His example of humility by serving the less fortunate this holiday season and throughout the year. You can touch lives with your kindness and service to others by sharing the hope and love of Jesus Christ. If you’re interested in volunteering your time you can find volunteer opportunities near you at www.volunteermatch.org, www.serve.gov, www.allforgood.gov or just enter “local volunteer opportunities near me” into your search engine.

Share the Love

1 John 4 11

Verse of the Day:  1 John 4:11

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

God’s love flows to us and it also needs to flow through us.  When we receive God’s love it will change our heart so much that we feel the need to share it with other people.  We can share God’s love by practicing forgiveness, compassion and by praying for one another. God’s love is meant to be shared so let your light shine everywhere you go.

Love and Good Deeds

Hebrews 10 24.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Hebrews 10:24

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

Let your love for God and your gratitude for His mercy and goodness inspire you to share His love with others.  Let’s motivate each other and encourage acts of love and service for those in need so that our heavenly Father may be glorified.  We need to do something, help somebody, invite someone because if we don’t then who will?

Generosity and Compassion

Proverbs 22 9.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 22:9

The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.

God is generous with us and He expects us to be generous with others. We serve a compassionate God and when we give ourselves to Him, He creates a compassionate heart in us. The awesome thing is that when we give to others from our heart God blesses us even more.  Be generous to those in need and do everything in love. Remember, we can never out give God.

Be an Encourager

1 Thessalonians 5 11

Verse of the Day: 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

We may not be able to solve everyone’s problems but we sure can be an encouragement to everyone by spreading hope. Share the love of God, pray with each other and for each other. Use your words to build each other up not tear each other down. Be a friend and a blessing to those in need (we are all in need).

Share the Love

1 John 4 11.jpg

Verse of the Day:  1 John 4:11

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

God’s love flows to us and it also needs to flow through us.  When we receive God’s love it changes us so much that we should feel the need to share it by loving one another.  When we share God’s love with others the recipient is open to receive love not only from us but directly from God.  God’s love is meant to be shared.
