Worry or Worship

Verse of the Day:  Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Whatever it is that worries you whether it’s spiritual, physical, for yourself or for someone else bring it to God in prayer. Humbly come before your heavenly Father with a sincere heart and lay your burdens, your worries and your cares at his feet. Thank Him for what He’s done for you in the past, thank Him for hearing your prayer in the present and thank Him in advance for answering your prayer in the future. Come to Him with an honest heart, tell Him how you feel and what you need. He already knows, but He wants to hear it from you. The choice is yours, you can worry or you can worship but you can’t do both.

Lord, I praise Your wonderful name! You are mighty, wonderful and the source of everything good. Father, I lay my worries at Your feet because I know that You are in control. I may not understand everything that is happening but I trust in You and pray for Your will to be done. Grant me peace, Lord, as I keep my mind on You and not on my troubles. Amen

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 4: Thankful for the Love of Family and Friends

2 Thessalonians 1:3

Verse of the Day:  2 Thessalonians 1:3

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.

I am thankful for the love of family and friends.  I’m grateful to have such wonderful people as part of my journey. Each person God has put in my life adds something unique and special to it and I love and appreciate them all. I’m thankful for the love we share between us, for the experiences we go through together and for the memories that will be in my heart forever. I’m thankful that in my time of need I have family and friends I can count on. As I thank God for them, I pray that He would continue to bless and protect them always.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 2: Thankful for Wonderful Memories

Philippians 1:3

Verse of the Day:  Philippians 1:3

I thank my God every time I remember you.

Paul wrote this in a letter after he left Philippi where he had gone through some very difficult times, yet he chose not to focus on the things that had caused him pain. The holidays can be a difficult time for people who have lost loved ones but as Christians we have the hope that we will see them again someday. We should try to be like the Apostle Paul and stay focused on the positive things in our lives and appreciate the great memories we have. Thank God for giving you the strength to get through difficult times and for the great memories of the wonderful people God placed in your life. Don’t forget to pray for the people who have helped you along life’s journey while you celebrate each day.

Morning Prayer

Psalm 5 3

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 5:3

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

The most important thing you can do to start your day is to spend time with the Lord in prayer.  Thank Him for waking you up and giving you another day of life. Praise the Him for His goodness and His mercy that starts new every morning. Lay your requests and concerns at His feet. Invite Him into every part of your day. Be consistent and diligent with your prayers, always praying with the confidence that God hears you. Make time to pray every morning and ask God to give you the peace and guidance you need to go through your day.

Courage for Today

1 Samuel 17 37

Verse of the Day:  1 Samuel 17:37

The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.”

You may be going through adversity right now with everything that’s going on in the world but you can have courage in your current situation. Just like the Lord rescued David from the paw of the lion, David believed that God would also rescue him from his imminent circumstances and you know God has brought you through difficult times before and He’ll do it again.  God was with you then and He’s with you now. Instead of worrying about your present state remember that God has gotten you out of difficult times before. Thank God for all that tribulations he’s brought you through and thank Him in advance for getting you through this difficult time.

Praise the Lord!

Psalm 119 164

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 119:164

Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws.

There is no set number of times a day we must praise God each day but wouldn’t it be wonderful if we just stopped what we were doing throughout the day to delight and please God with our praise, to give thanks and honor to the one who is worthy of praise? We have so much to be thankful for and it doesn’t take but a few moments to say, “Thank you God!” It doesn’t even matter what we are going though, even in difficult times, through faith we can still lift up our hands to praise our God. We can praise Him with our words and with our singing and give Him all the glory!

Instruments for Special Purposes

2 Timothy 2 21 (2)

Verse of the Day:  2 Timothy 2:21

Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

No matter what you’ve done in the past, no matter how broken you were God can still use you for His special purposes. When you come to God and turn away from sin you are forgiven and made clean. Your sins have been expunged by the blood of Jesus Christ. You are a new creation and God loves you and He has a purpose for your life. Get right with God, turn away from sin and prepare yourself to do God’s work for only He can turn your mess into a message. Thank God for forgiving you and let go of your past so you can focus on the present and on the future that God has planned for you.

10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 7:  Thankful for God’s Blessings

2 Corinthians 9 11 b.jpg

Verse of the Day:  2 Corinthians 9:11

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

I am thankful for all of God’s blessings. This year was a tough year for our family. My husband was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer. By the grace of God, he is now cancer free, but there were times we didn’t know how we were going to pay the bills or put food on the table. When we couldn’t see a way, God made a way. He touched the hearts of many to help us along the way and for that we are forever grateful. Our faith was made stronger with each and every act of generosity. If we trust in God, He will always provide for us and He even makes a way for us to be a blessing to others. God blesses us so we can generously pour out our blessings to others, which results in thanksgiving to God.

Happy Monday!

Proverbs 6 10-11

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 6:10-11

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest — and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

Although we may be tempted to hit the snooze button on the alarm a few more times, especially on a Monday, it’s time to rise and shine for another week of work.  Laziness may sound good now but you’ll pay for it later. Hard work brings prosperity, laziness brings poverty.  Take pleasure in the work God gives you and do your work diligently for the glory of the Lord. Work is a gift so be cheerful and thank God  for your job.

Pray for All People

1 Timothy 2 1

Verse of the Day:  1 Timothy 2:1

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people

Take time to pray for your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Pray for your pastor and your church. Pray for our leaders and people in authority and while you’re at it, pray for your enemies as well. Pray that God would protect them and keep them from any evil the enemy has planned. Pray for God to bless and provide for them knowing that all good things come our Heavenly Father. Humbly come before the Lord with your specific prayers asking God for His will to be done as you intercede for others. Whether your prayers our general or specific, thank God for hearing your prayer, for His love and mercy for all people. We don’t always know what people are going through but one thing is for sure, they can always use our prayers and not one prayer is ever wasted.
