10 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 5: Thankful for God’s Peace

Colossians 3:15

Verse of the Day:  Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

When you have a personal relationship with Jesus, His peace pours into your heart. When you trust in the Lord with all your heart you can live at peace no matter what is happening around you. The closer you get to God the more start to see how His peace changes your heart. What may have once been angry and hurtful doesn’t have to be that way anymore. It’s up to you to decide if you are going to let God in and change your once hardened heart. Be thankful for the peace God freely gives through Jesus Christ to all believers.

God’s Grace

Verse of the Day:   2 Corinthians 12:9

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

God’s grace is enough to transform any situation. The more you trust in God the more His strength and power are evident in your life. When you are weak call on the Lord, He will strengthen and support you as you go through trials. He will comfort and refresh your spirit as you trust in Him. It may not be easy, but when you surrender to God, He will give you peace like no other. The world we live in has changed drastically and the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour but God’s saving grace gives you the victory. In all your times of need, have faith that God’s grace is enough to see you through and trust in Him with all your heart.

God Has the Answers

Proverbs 3 5 a

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Trust in the Lord, not in yourself, not in your own wisdom, understanding or feelings.  Not in your education, in your profession or in the world. Trust in God the Father at all times. Trust in His love, grace and mercy. God knows everything from the beginning to the end. He knew you before you were born and He knows the plans He has for your future. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, surrender to His will, obey His commands and know that He loves you with an everlasting love. Trust in the Word of God to guide and direct you and in His promises for He is faithful. We may not have the answers but we know the One who does. Jesus is the answer.

Let God Lead You

Proverbs 20 24

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 20:24

A person’s steps are directed by the Lord.  How then can anyone understand their own way?

Life is a journey. God is at work in your life and is directing your steps for His purpose. He will lead you to eternal life with Him if only you would let go of your need to follow your own path. It’s impossible for man to know what lies ahead. Only God knows and it won’t always be easy because there is a time for every purpose under heaven but don’t worry, Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and let Him lead you in the direction you should go. You may be going through a hard time right now but if you are faithful and obedient even when you don’t understand where He’s leading you, eventually, you will see the fruits of your labor.

My Defender

Deuteronomy 20 4

Verse of the Day:  Deuteronomy 20:4

For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.

Those that love and trust in the Lord may call upon Him in their time of need. Whatever battle you are facing be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual God is with you and He will fight for you. From the smallest battle to the biggest God will defend you and protect you. This is Christian warfare and the key to victory is to stay in God’s will and to fight on your knees in prayer. You have no reason to fear, trust in the Lord with all your heart and He will give you the victory.

Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart

Proverbs 3 5 a

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

There are going to be times when you say, “God, I don’t understand why this is happening.”  That’s when you must learn to accept that you will not always understand everything God is doing. That’s when you just have to trust that God has a plan and that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Life is not always going to be easy but if you learn to trust God with all your heart you will have peace, joy and happiness in this life no matter what is happening around you.

New Beginnings

Lamentations 3 22-23.jpg

Verse of the Day: Lamentations 3:22-23

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Tomorrow is the first day of a new year and a new decade, it’s a chance for a new beginning. Put the past behind you and start this new year with your focus on God. He loves you, He is merciful and His compassion never fails. Our current circumstances may be overwhelming and our bodies may fail us but our soul will not be crushed as long as we have faith, hope and love. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and see that He is good.

God’s Will Not Mine

Luke 22 41-42.jpg

Verse of the Day:  Luke 22:41-42

He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

Jesus gave us the example of how to pray, especially when going through something so difficult and life changing. First, In Luke 22:41 it says He went a little farther leaving the disciples behind so He could be alone. Intense prayer needs privacy, sometimes it just needs to be you and God alone, no one else, no distractions. Second, He knelt down and prayed. Kneeling to God shows humility, respect and honor. Third, He prayed to God saying, “Father if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Jesus, knowing what was ahead asked His Father, if He was willing, to change the outcome that had already been set in motion. Then He relinquished His own will to the will of God. We too must voluntarily hand over our distress, our problems, our worries and our lives over to God and let His will be done. God has a purpose and a plan for your life and He knows everything from beginning to end. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and pray for His will to be done in your life.

Peaceful Nights

Psalm 3 5 3

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 3:5

I lie down and sleep: I wake again because the Lord sustains me.

Even in the battles you can find peace because God is with you. He will give you rest when you give all your troubles to Him. When you trust in the Lord with all your heart, He alone will give you peace unlike anything you’ve ever known. God will allow you to lie down and sleep peacefully knowing that He is in control and He is working everything out for the good of those who love Him. When you wake up thank God for another day of life and praise Him for His goodness and mercy.
