Love and Obedience

John 14:23

Verse of the Day:  John 14:23

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”

If you really love Jesus, obey His teachings and His commands. Saying you love Him is easy, anyone can say they love Jesus, proving you do is another matter. When you understand and appreciate what Jesus did for you at the cross it changes you, you’re no longer the same. Having a real relationship with your Lord and Savior becomes a lifestyle not just a Sunday event. True love and gratitude responds in obedience, dedication and with passion. Open your heart to God and invite Him into every part of your life and into everything you do.

Brag About the Lord

1 Corinthians 1:31

Verse of the Day:  1 Corinthians 1:31

Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

True wisdom is not found in your own understanding, strength is not found in your own power and wealth is not found in earthly riches. They are found in knowing the one true living God. I cannot boast about anything I have because I know that every good gift comes from my Father above. Everything I have and everything I am is because of God’s unfailing love, mercy and saving grace.  The only thing I can boast about is knowing the Lord. I can boast about His kindness, justice and righteousness. I can brag about what He’s done for me, how He changed my life and how He saved a wretch like me.

Overlook an Offense

Proverbs 19:11

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 19:11

A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

Wise people are patient when others act offensively towards them. They don’t act or speak without thinking first. It doesn’t mean they accept what is contrary to their values and beliefs. It means they take time to evaluate the situation and act accordingly with patience and integrity. We’re living in a time where everyone is easily offended and are quick to anger, judge and criticize each other. We don’t necessarily have to agree with everyone, but we do need to be kind. Hurt people, hurt people, wise people try to understand. Instead of becoming angry show the offender God’s love and forgive them as God also forgives your offenses.

God Hears Your Prayers

Jeremiah 29:12

Verse of the Day:  Jeremiah 29:12

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

Be encouraged, you serve a God who promises to listen to every single one of your prayers. No matter how big or how small, He hears them all. He receives your requests and petitions and answers them all in His own timing and in His own way. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it’s no and sometimes it’s not now. It’s not always what you want but it’s always God’s will for you. You might not understand why things happen the way they do, but God knows the end from the beginning and you must trust in Him with all your heart. Therefore, pray without ceasing and pray with expectation. Keep praying, keep praising, keep worshiping because God is listening.

Understanding God’s Word

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 119:130

The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

If you read the Holy Bible in faith, studying the truth, asking God to give you understanding of what was, what is and what is to come – the Lord, by his grace, will enlighten your mind and soul. He will help you understand the scriptures, His plan for salvation and He will give you spiritual peace and comfort. God’s word gives understanding to all who earnestly seek Him and are willing to learn.

#Relationship Goals

1 John 5 20

Verse of the Day:  1 John 5:20

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

Do you know about Jesus or do you really know Him on a personal level? Just knowing who He is, is not enough. Our goal in life should be to really get to know Christ by having a deep and personal relationship with Him for through Him we belong to God. What a privilege it is to have been given the knowledge of Christ our Lord and Savior and to believe and trust in the true God who came to give us eternal life.

God Has the Answers

Proverbs 3 5 a

Verse of the Day:  Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Trust in the Lord, not in yourself, not in your own wisdom, understanding or feelings.  Not in your education, in your profession or in the world. Trust in God the Father at all times. Trust in His love, grace and mercy. God knows everything from the beginning to the end. He knew you before you were born and He knows the plans He has for your future. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, surrender to His will, obey His commands and know that He loves you with an everlasting love. Trust in the Word of God to guide and direct you and in His promises for He is faithful. We may not have the answers but we know the One who does. Jesus is the answer.

Read During Prayer

2 Timothy 3 16

Verse of the Day: 2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

Reading the Bible as part of your prayer can lead to enlightenment.  The Book of Psalms is a great place to start reading scriptures that turn into prayers. They’re full of wonderful praise and thanksgiving to God. Before you begin to read the Bible ask God to open your eyes and make clear what He is trying to show you. If you’re looking for a specific topic you want to address in prayer you can use a Bible concordance or look up verses on the internet. Once you find the Bible verse you want to focus on, read it, meditate on it, think about what it really means to you, then pray about it. God speaks to you in many ways including His written Word. He may open your eyes to something new when a passage you’ve read before suddenly becomes clear and impacts you like never before. Remember, when we pray, we talk to God; when we read the Bible, God speaks to us.

Grow in Wisdom

Proverbs 1 5

Verse of the Day: Proverbs 1:5

The wise hear them and grow in wisdom; those with understanding gain guidance.

Solomon, the king of Israel, asked God to give him wisdom and understanding and it pleased the Lord, so he gave him wisdom and understanding beyond measure. The Book of Proverbs was written to guide people, not just the young, but all people in what is right, just and fair. Some say the Book of Proverbs doesn’t apply to today’s times, but it is as relevant now as it was then because God’s Word is the same yesterday, today and forever. Learning is a life-long journey, even the wise can still grow in knowledge and wisdom.
