Verse of the Day: Proverbs 3:1-2
Do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.
People often joke about life not coming with an instruction manual. It actually does, it’s called The Holy Bible. The Book of Proverbs is an excellent place to start if you’re looking for instructions. It is an example of the Biblical wisdom tradition, and raises questions of values, moral behavior, the meaning of human life, and right conduct. (Wikipedia) If we live our lives according to God’s commands and keep His Word in our heart we can avoid many problems and live a long, peaceful and prosperous life. Even better than that, we can live forever in heaven.
Verse of the Day: Proverbs 19:11
A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.
Wise people are patient when others act offensively towards them. They don’t act or speak without thinking first. It doesn’t mean they accept what is contrary to their values and beliefs. It means they take time to evaluate the situation and act accordingly with patience and integrity. We’re living in a time where everyone is easily offended and are quick to anger, judge and criticize each other. We don’t necessarily have to agree with everyone, but we do need to be kind. Hurt people, hurt people, wise people try to understand. Instead of becoming angry show the offender God’s love and forgive them as God also forgives your offenses.
